Incidentally, did you know that Ethiopia is the only African country never to have been colonised?
Might exlain why it is only 2001[^] there. That must be head wrecking to programme for.
if (country == 'Ehtiopia') {year = rest_of_world.year - 7;}
BTW you sound like my dad. He was born in Rhodesia. Seems to think colonialism did Africa a favour...cheers, Paul M. Watson.
BTW did you know that the sun shines 13 months of the year in Ethiopia?

Not to put too fine a point on it, look at what Zimbabwe became after Independance! Perhaps a bit of Colonial Rule now would feed the people and stop them all killing each other.

And look at South Africa before 1994. Also, plenty of people died in Rhodesia. BTW, today is remembrance day. Well done Europe.
cheers, Paul M. Watson.

true, but not through poverty or starvation, and certainly not in the numbers we see today.

Obama would become a Brit then (he was born in Hawaii.)

Probably not :( Do you have any figures? The bush war had roughly 30,000 casualties (my uncle fought in it, not on the side of Mugabe naturally.) No idea what to do in Africa anymore. I don't think colonial rule would help, it wouldn't develop the area or people, just surpress the problems until the West gets sick of it again and leaves (hello Iraq, welcome to your future.) Even having been born there and lived there most of my life hasn't helped me understand how to get the tribes to live together peacefully and prosperously. The man on the street is a decent, law abiding, peaceful man but they get whipped up by tin-pots and tribal lines are so easily raised. It doesn't help that the West continues to pump money into it, forming powerful oil/mineral conglomerates who favour whoever is in power. Lots of short-term thinking in Africa from all sides.
cheers, Paul M. Watson.

Nope, but you can have Pakistan back.

We never had Pakistan, it was never part of the Empire! We had the area when it was part of India, but after it went independant, it was merely Commonwealth, not Empire. India can have it back if they like!

Their first act would be to bomb their new province back to the stone age.

I can offer nothing to the argument about how to help. As you say you understand the problems only a little and you live there! It is a sad state of affairs, but maybe a benevolent dictatorship would improve the lot of the average man?

I think it is the Republicans last hope. That he was really born in Kenya and had his birth cert forged in Hawaii. I'm pretty sure they'll soon find a link between Obama and Saddam too, 7th son of the 7th son of the twelfth concubine of Saddam Hussein.

Good and then you can have India - maybe you can stop the 'UrGNT! pLs hELp!!!' messages.

My First Act as Viceroy of India would be to teach them to type "Please Help Urgently" Failure to spell correctly would result in debroadbandization (a horrible Dubyaism).

Round about the same time someone faked his birth cetificate. From what I've seen the only people who'll swear to remembering Barrack being born where in Kenya where he has a valid birth certificate. ;)

By the lack of US weapons... Hey, how do you sink a Pakistani battleship? Put it in water. And over in India a monk drives over a dog and turns to the owner saying "I'm terribly sorry, but my karma ran over your dogma."

Who amongst us is truly benevolent? I wouldn't even want Nelson Mandela the benevolent dictator.
