      It's about time. I remember when I had a cruising sailboat people used to ask me if I carried firearms. My answer was that, aside from causing problems at customs or otherwise when entering restrictive jurisdictions, I had no need for them. If someone tried to board my boat I would shoot a flair (25mm) at them and if that didn't deter them I would put the second one into their boat. Problem solved and perfectly legal. In fact it is mandated that one carry a supply of signaling devices.
