        Because he is 37 years old, has been in mediocre form for two years, had a very poor series against South Africa (averaging 19.5) and was hopeless against the swinging ball in the 2005 Ashes series. Time to move on. There are plenty of good players waiting in the wings.

          Because he's woefully out of form. He's also old. The gap between the top three teams has never been this close in recent times. Should be an interesting year!
