Benediction at Obama 's inauguration, Rev. Joseph Lowery: 'Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen'... Seriously, WTF is that?

*Everyone* faces discrimination, and mostly because of crap like the reverends "prayer". Maybe after all the old guys with chips on their shoulders die off, the human race can get on with itself...

Does that include you and me? btw: I agree. There was no reason for a gratuitous insult to caucasians.

'Fraid not. Besides the fact that new chips are being manufactured for shoulders every day, people have always and will always fear, and therefore hate, people who are different. Color, shape and size are just easily identifiable traits to help you decide who you hate from a distance, but people only have to be seperated by some invisible line to perceive them as different enough to be a threat. Personally, I think that those who base their prejudices on the easily identifiable traits just betray how simple they are. Honestly, who among us can look at any two given people on the planet and see "equal" every time? I hope it's not impossible, but I'm all but 100% sure it's extremely rare. As long as there are groups of people, groups will be hated. And there's no getting away from that since nature does plenty of grouping for us.

And completely out of step with the message Obama has been trying to send. WTF- how does this rate a 1 vote? It is just an innocuous factual observation... someone needs to get a life.

pure crap. In today's America if you're: a middle aged, white, straight, church-going guy - you're the devil and treated that way.

Mike - typical white guy. The USA does have universal healthcare, but you have to pay for it. D'oh. Thomas Mann - "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." The NYT - my leftist brochure. Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. God doesn't believe in atheists, therefore they don't exist.

That's a damn good point. If anybody feels that maybe we should give socialism (of any disgusting flavor) a go, go some place where they're already oppressed by it. Then you can test drive it without ruining the closest thing to a free democratic republic we've had in human history. If you don't disappear in political prison, and your new home ever decides to let you leave, you'll likely come home with a different perspective. Hell, you might even buy a gun, find yourself with a healthy distrust for all things government, and decide to put some ideas down on paper before finding that the Constitution already says what you wanted to say better than you could. Just saying, maybe some of the "enlightened" ones could use some enlightening.

How can you say that to me? I don't believe in anything that Iran stands for. How goddamned stupid do you have to be to not understand that centralized power is centralized power whether it is in Iran or the US. That is what I, as a conservative, am opposed to. Why is that so hard for people like you to comprehend? People like you are turning the US into Iran. You think just because you are putting power into the hands of people you consider to be secular zealots that somehow that is different than putting power into the hands of someone who is a religious zealot. It isn't. It is exactly the same damn thing.

Course it has nothing to do with race. Although it was interesting that segments of the crowd at the inauguration kept chanting "Black Power".....

Yes. There is no place left now. No where that a person can go to escape collectivism and religious and economimc tyranny. All we can do now is wait for it to all come crahsing down. There is no possible way that any of this is going to succeed. We now have one of the most unaccomplished, ner do wells that we have ever had in power, trying to fix the problems that liberalism has created with far more liberalism. The only cure he knows is to feed the patient more poison. Well, fine. If thats what it takes to put this entire sorry system out of its misery, I'm all for it.

You're not a conservative. You're a whiny old man with a shrunken soul espousing outmoded concepts and a vision of America that resembles Never-Never-Land.

No. The democratic processes in this country are no longer fair and honest. The true government we are supposed to have has been usurped by pure corruption and propaganda. Our educational systems are controlled by leftists, our news media is controlled by leftist, and our entertaiment industry is controlled by leftists. This is no longer a gentleman's debate. Its fucking war.
