Cuba is an island split into 2 prisons: one inside and the other outside Guantanamo. In both prisons there are political prisoners of conscience arrested without fair trial, under the arbitrary will of presidents that don't respect civil liberties. Comunists and Islamofascists only see one prison there. Hypocrite conservatives also see only one prison there. When Mr. Obama decided to submit the prisoners of one prison to a fair trial he elevated the U.S. to the rule of the law, above the moral grounds of the Cuban dictatorship. Well done. After that, the only one prison to close in Cuba is outside Guantanamo.

I would say that Communists see a wonderful utopia on one side of the island, and a prison full of enemies of my enemy on the other.

It's President Obama, if you don't like him fine, but show the office some respect.

That is a very interesting observation. How many times have you been to Cuba? Personally, from my five visits, I can say that Cuba is Paradise in comparison with some 'Free' countries. Let me see... 100% literacy. Free health Care for all. Higher life expectancy than the US. No Homeless. No Hungry. One of the lowest crime levels in the World. Clean Streets. No unemployment. A beautiful and friendly people. (And not just in the hotels, but out on the streets) (Incidentally, their Capitol Building is identical to the one in Washington except in one respect, theirs is slightly taller). It has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, several great drinks,(Cuba Libra and the Mojito), and if ever you get to go to the Trocadero, do so, it is Fantastic!

Remember why the revolution happened in Cuba and that things are changing there.

:omg: I never ever thought I would hear an apologist for Castro's Cuba from a citizen from a western democracy. I wish Gordon Brown success in making his little island a utopia as Castro has done for his.

These days, the only place you can get a decent ropa vieja is in Miami.

I think the correct writing would be "da tovarishch" (for "yes comrade", in Russian). Isn't it?

Portuguese is a derivative language from Castilian, a Spanish dialect. They are very close. And, besides, the town where I live in Brazil receives lots of tourists from Argentina. It is quite common for us to interact with them.

I still believe Cuban communism would crumble to dust within a year or two if the embargo was lifted. That would probably turn Cuba into another Disneyland, but hey, you have to make choices. But I still find it funny that under this assumption, the US is upkeeping the communist island.
