At this late date it probably is the only way out of this mess. Just not in the way the left expects.
Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

Um, we're not spending anything because we don't have a budget approved and there's no money.

The assembly won't do their job and run the state. As a result, everything is done by initiative, usually sponsored by some special interest group, and as a result we have a lot of spending packages that are guaranteed a percentage of the budget and are rapidly adding up to more that 100%. The Republicans dig their heels in and refuse to vote for budget after budget. Arnie stormed into Sacramento like someone had coronated him king of California and thought everyone would cowtow to him like they don in Hollywood or one of his movies and pissed everyone off. It's also funny how we need a 2/3 vote of the assembly to pass a tax bill but a simple majority of people can change the constitution.
