Notions of rude and civility are lost on Ilion. Rudeness is like breathing to him.

There is no need for that. And, in fact, that contributes to the problem. edit: Why don't you just let it be? Take your hand off the scale, it will take care of itself. The problem is that certain persons believe -- and their experience supports the belief -- that they can behave however they wish, insult whomever they wish, then accuse their target of being "the problem," and that you will always be there to cover for them. Just let it be. When they finally figure out that you're not going to cover for them anymore (and when they get bored with trying to insult others), they'll behave in a manner more appropriate to their age. It's just human nature.

Wrong. The problem is that you don't like it when the community is given the ability to respond when you treat us with contempt. Stan is a right wing nut job. Everything he says, is borderline insane. I absolutely support his right to be here, because he discusses his views. That's what this place is for. No-one is picking on you for being a nut job. They are responding to the contempt you treat them with.

The Soapbox doors are back open and I've snipped the right wire (the red one, not the blue one) to turn off voting. There is no voting off messages. There are no reds and greys. There is only self policing until I cut a spare set of keys for some other moderators to come in and keep things reasonable. I will, hopefully, get a chance to do some more updates tomorrow to finalise the changes needed.

Well at least you can't say Illion's not discussing stuff these days even if it is mostly himself. Still I dont see why Stan's suddenly got everyones backs up these days he's always been like that. I kinda like the guy, even though we agree on nothing, he's like a cuddly pet rabid wolf in the corner.

Absolutely right. If Ilion responded with half the willingness to respond and debate that Stan does, there'd be no problem.

No, there will be no 'ignore user' functionality. The Soapbox is yours to do with as you will but I'm not spending a second more on it. I have a feeling the other 3 million readers we have a month would prefer I focus on helping them through their software development projects.
