I find it mildly ironic that posts about Australian sports are being voted out of existence in the ersatz Soapbox, as well as the latest incarnation of CSS.

Jon Smith & Wesson: The original point and click interface Algoraphobia: An exaggerated fear of the outside world rooted in the belief that one might spontaneously combust due to global warming.

I too am vastly amused. He should give us our forum name back.

Why would he want to do that? He's made it clear that it was not his vision for what "Soapbox" should be, or how he implemented it, that was a problem. It was the users who failed him. Look ashamed, John.

I'm not ashamed of holding intellectual debates that are unrelated to programming! A good programmer isn't a good programmer simply because he programs. If programmers could be made into robots, they would. Sometimes the best programmers are those who are the most diverse as they bring in aspects of all fields. It's Chris' website and he can do as he pleases, but I really don't understand the logic behind it. The Lounge and the New-Soapbox(TM) are completely programming unrelated as it is. Furthermore, the character assassinations and name calling and post voting that goes on there is just as bad as what was going on here before the change. Paradoxically, this forum has become more civil since it has been buried. It would all be easier to accept if the Lounge and NewSoapbox didn't appear (to me anyways) to be exact replicas of what, he claims, he is trying to eliminate. But, whatever. It is his website, so he can do as he sees fit.

It appears to me that it's ramped up a bit, just as ours has ramped down. It may be that the users are failing him again.

The rest of us have a hobby called CP, he has a life's work. That makes a difference - as I have had to explain a couple of times when I acted as webmaster and did things that didn't please everyone. Nonetheless, one would like to understand better.

I think we've got the best of it.

                  This statement is false
