My check engine light comes on, so I called warrenty repair... [modified]

..so obama said [^]he would fix my car yesterday... My Chrysler van has a check engine light that comes on every few minutes, so I called the White House (202) 456-1414[^] to get warranty repair, or find out what government agency handles citizen warranty repair, but the phone was busy... What do I do? I hope this does not happen when I need a doc appt and schedule with the up'n comming Amerikan National Health Service. <edit> added link to obama warranty </edit>

Run to the nearest Toyota Dealership and get a Sienna. My mother in law's has been running without issue for 7 years now.

For what its worth a friend of mine who is GM for a Honda dealership says that the government-backed warranties are probably the most positive thing the government has done for both GM and Chrysler.

I ask myself, is a warrenty from Government Motors going to influence positively to purchase one of thier products... no quite the opposite. Would you dump $40k on a car backed up by the full faith and credit of the Obama Federal government? There is only one American car manufacturer now, Ford, but there are two Federal car manufactures...

Just a quick question not meant to be sarcastic in any way. Is Chrysler no longer handling warranty calls directly? Can you no longer head down to a dealer and make an appointment?

Rephrase the question so it becomes "Would I be more likely to buy a car with a warranty backed by the Federal Government or one backed by GM" to get an answer that's of any use in judging the effect of that particular part of the bailout.

On the one hand, I have serious questions about the bailout's legality and its efficacy. On the other hand, I have great sympathy for all of the folks around this country whose livlihood depends on there being an American automobile industry. I am also mindful of the fact that these companies are the last repository of the equipment and personnel that would be sorely needed to ramp up our production lines in time of war.

I don't know. I take the cars down the street to a mom-pop repair shop. All 3 of my cars are over 10 years old, 2 are over 20 years old, so no warranty applies. My post was meant to be tongue-n-cheek.

Oh, no problem. What is somewhat humorous though is a year ago, people would have known for sure my post was meant to be funny and was definitely over the top to be ridiculous. Now with society getting weird, who can know :)

Niether, buy a Ford, or a foriegn car, then there is no issue, no angst. Additionaly, Obama just put the 'Obama Federal brand name' on a product and 47% voted against that brand last Novemeber.
