He probably knew it was incorrect etiquette to bow to the Saudi king (it is incorrect etiquette to bow to anyone in muslim countries, even to the king), with all this talk about his birth certificate he was probably trying to prove he was 100% american by displaying some cultural ignorance. It would have been more fun if he had worn a brightly coloured shirt , shorts, slippers , hat and wandered around chewing gum and speaking in a very loud voice and taking everybody's picture with his camera, and bowed to the doorman of the hotel before leaving :-D

Actually, I think the cultural ignorance comes naturally.

Stan thinks the pictures are faked. But you'd call them S.O.P. for someone who was a close boyhood friend of an Arabian prince and who spent a lot of time with him when his daddy was posted to that country? http://media.photobucket.com/image/bush%20and%20faisal%20kissing/yolhuani/activism/politics/bush_kiss.jpg[^] http://farm1.static.flickr.com/111/293457625_10b568f7c7.jpg[^]

It isn't exactly a kiss. It's a traditional arab greeting. BTW, that picture is faked, they moved the heads a little closer to make it look like that.

When did I do that? Stan's the man who keeps bringing the issue up. I'm inclined to believe Bassam has the right of it - they merely rubbed noses and somebody doctored the pic to bring their lips together that last little bit. FYI: you have never seen me in the mode of "my life depends on it." You wouldn't like me in the mode of "my life depends on it." ;)
