For those of you who missed it, first time around, Senator Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) and Representative Howard Berman (D-Calif.), have re-introduced the DREAM (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) Act. There was hardly any support from the public for this piece of legislation nine years ago, but that certainly isn't stopping the folks who brought you NAFTA, the Free Trade Highway, and unfunded border fences. Essentially the act is a form of amnesty for all illegals who remain undetected, or at least un-arrested, long enough to graduate from an American Highway. They'll have temporary amnesty for six years followed by permanent amnesty if they graduate from a two year college during that time. (I foresee an economic stimulus to building spanish-language community colleges in our future.) It would appear likely that, if the Act is passed, seats and tuition subsidies will start going to illegal aliens at a time when state higher education budgets are being slashed, admissions curtailed, and tuitions increased. Of course, once they have some form of citizenship then they can bring over their brothers and sisters and parents and grandparents - all legal under existing law. :omg: Source[^]

It's thier country now, maybe we should just give it to them. :( On an unrelated note, Berl Ives had a good song for bad (day, week, month, ...) when you just stop giving a wit. I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger Travelling through this land of woe There'll be no sickness no toil no danger In that bright land to which I'll go Going there to meet my Saviour going there no more to roam I'm just going over Jordan I'm just going over home I know dark clouds will gather round me But I'll be home in a little while I know his sweet love will surround me Anmd he will walk with me each mile Going there to meet my loved ones going there no more to roam I'm just going over Jordan I'm just going over home I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger Just travelling through this land of woe There'll be no sickness no toil no danger In that bright land to which I'll go I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger ---- This would buy me a one if we were still keeping score :). Damn, who remembers Berl Ives...

I always like Ghost Riders in the Sky, myself. I remember him quite well, Burl Ives was one of a kind. I woulda balanced the one with a 5 - and gotten a 1 from Troy just cause I posted.

My post was out of frustration to what is going on. I have no problems with people following our laws and becoming legal residents... BUT... I live in the People’s Democratic Republic of Maryland, and they passed a bill allowing banditos to keep their driver licenses. This is infuriating because that is all that is required to vote here. I have the same rights and privileges as a citizen of Mexico. We have cities almost entirely populated with illegal alien banditos, Hyattsville, Gaithersburg, and much of Rockville and that is just in the DC area. Hospitals are moving upstate because they can't afford the 'free' health care they have to provide to the banditos. In addition we have many home invasions for homes along bike paths (while you can get a driving license, the state still does not provide free cars to banditos… yet). And while the state of Maryland begrudgingly will allow you to shoot a bandito that invades your home, the civil liability laws allow banditos families to sue you and take your home. In addition many grocery stores proudly proclaim that they provide WIC assistance (in Spanish!), WIC is a form of “the dole”. I am grateful, that they do check in gun shops your citizenship, this makes it more difficult for banditos to get firearms, and thus they are out gunned… so far.

I think there's a lot of us who are depressed by what appears to be an unrecognized invasion. I am not quite sure why it's considered "liberal" not to maintain the country's borders and provided benefits for citizens, only. You would think that they would realise that more than anyone else, this benefits the senior management of large corporations who can keep wages low by hiring illegals, thus closing the door on the American dream for a lot of blacks and legal immigrants who would otherwise see a path out of the lower class via entry level jobs.

Never paid attention to the ranking system. How does one see their ranking and what difference does it really make?

Check out any of the other forums to see them in action. It always made more sense to me to save the ranks for articles but Chris thought that they would be a useful tool for group discipline. Then the "report message" feature was given a lower threshold so posters were being voted into oblivion - then it was hacked and folks were seeing their posts deleted with ratings of 4 or 5.

rated articles or messages carry that rating which may be (not is, but may be) a guide to its quality. All posts, of course, start off with no rating

Posts with ratings 4 or higher show up in red, those with 2.5 or lower show up in grey.. (actual thresholds depend on your "noise" settings)
