IQ Insecurity

How many here ever feel insecure about their intellect and problem-solving skills? I have felt this way for a long time, and it irritates the hell out of me. For example, I have been working on a single maths problem for an hour now that I'm sure most of you here would have got instantly. I just can't grasp the concept behind it, and it's not very advanced at all. I just feel like I'm less capable mentally than most other people. For my final year in my last course, I acheived the maximum grades that were actually possible for each module. Does this make me intelligent? No, it makes me knowledgable. I absorbed knowledge from the world around me and spewed it out like some sort of machine onto some paper. Does this prove I am more capable than somebody who didn't do as well as me? No. It just means I enjoy my work and enjoy learning new things more than they do. Please somebody, tell me you suck at mathematics too. :D

However, despite my early predictions, i'm still not quite a jibbering idiot (well, i jibber sometimes...), so maybe i can hope to last until 30 without needing to be in some sort of assisted living home... ...anyway, just get in the habit of hanging around really drunk people - you'll quickly start feeling intelligent again. :)

SONORK ID 100.10024I reached the peak of my maths abilities in the second year of high school. I was top set until exam year (more by fluke that anything else). I was the only one in the top set who was entered for the middle level GCSE. It used to bother me, until I realised my talents lay in other directions. As long as you don't get ripped off with your change from shopping and you pay all your taxes correctly - maths ain't the important :-D Michael Programming is great. First they pay you to introduce bugs into software. Then they pay you to remove them again.
