Civilisation II - the best turn based strategy game ever. Michael Programming is great. First they pay you to introduce bugs into software. Then they pay you to remove them again.

AOE rocks, but for a game played between friends, nothing can beat Diablo 2, with expansion set! Well, chess was introduced to me one recess in the 4th grade by a friend at the time. And, it just happens to be that chess and working out are the two things my birth father (who I rarely see) seem to be able to do and talk about if we actually see each other once a decade. Big AOE fan! Looking forward Age of Mythology due out this fall.:-D For a slight change Star Wars Galactic Battleground is pretty good. Same general game play as AOE, with different different setting/ civs/ etc. Plus air units, are kind of cool. It's actually based on the AOE engine. BW {insert witty/thought-provoking saying here}

The computer AI is very poor, so poor that I can play against 7 computer opponents on hard and still win easily. Michael Programming is great. First they pay you to introduce bugs into software. Warcraft 3. Blizzard corners the market on strategy games. I would choose Starcraft second. But I've always loved the Warcraft theme more...
