Civilisation II - the best turn based strategy game ever. Michael Programming is great. First they pay you to introduce bugs into software. Then they pay you to remove them again.

AOE rocks, but for a game played between friends, nothing can beat Diablo 2, with expansion set! Well, chess was introduced to me one recess in the 4th grade by a friend at the time. And, it just happens to be that chess and working out are the two things my birth father (who I rarely see) seem to be able to do and talk about if we actually see each other once a decade. More computer opponents, generally just mean a longer game, not more challenging. Hard, is still a challenge for me sometimes, though, at least in AOK(conquerors). Warcraft 3. Blizzard corners the market on strategy games. I would choose Starcraft second. But I've always loved the Warcraft theme more...
