Well, chess was introduced to me one recess in the 4th grade by a friend at the time. And, it just happens to be that chess and working out are the two things my birth father (who I rarely see) seem to be able to do and talk about if we actually see each other once a decade. I would like everyones opinion on their favorite strategy game. My friends and I have played Ages of Empires 2 and we wish to move onto somthing new, whay do you sugest?
Big AOE fan! Looking forward Age of Mythology due out this fall.:-D For a slight change Star Wars Galactic Battleground is pretty good. Same general game play as AOE, with different different setting/ civs/ etc. Plus air units, are kind of cool. It's actually based on the AOE engine. BW {insert witty/thought-provoking saying here}

It's actually based on the AOE engine. You are better off playing against human opponents. The computer AI is very poor, so poor that I can play against 7 computer opponents on hard and still win easily. Michael Programming is great. First they pay you to introduce bugs into software. Then they pay you to remove them again.

Michael P Butler wrote: You are better off playing against human opponents Very true. More computer opponents, generally just mean a longer game, not more challenging. Hard, is still a challenge for me sometimes, though, at least in AOK(conquerors). BW {insert witty/thought-provoking saying here}

Warcraft 3. Blizzard corners the market on strategy games. I would choose Starcraft second. But I've always loved the Warcraft theme more... David Stone But Clinton wasn't a predictable, boring, aging, lying, eloquent, maintainer-of-the-status-quo. He was a predictable, boring-but-trying-to-look-hip, aging-and-fat-but-seemingly-oblivious-to-it, lying-but-in-sadly-blatant-ways, not-eloquent-but-trying-to-make-up-for-it-by-talking-even-more, bringer-in-of-scary-and-potentially-dangerous-new-policies. And there was also Al Gore. It just wasn't *right*. Shog9

Uhuh, and I am Bruce Willis, can be thrown out of a moving car, be punched solidly for ten minutes, run over broken glass, break my nose, dislocate my shoulder and STILL beat up the bad guy who was just waving two Uzis straight at me without hitting me once. :rolleyes: How many times have you seen a hot babe fawn over chess players in the park? In real life... They are lucky if they get squirrels to notice them ;P * forgive me, I am just perpetuating the cycle that is Nerdism

Civilisation II - the best turn based strategy game ever. Michael Programming is great. First they pay you to introduce bugs into software. Then they pay you to remove them again.
The latest patches to Civ 3 have made it my favorite. Even better than 2.

Paul is right. Chess is not a good way to pick up women. Never pay attention to movies. How many computer movies have you seen that you thought were fake? Every now and then I do play chess. I'm smart and I like to think. I do that for myself and not for women. If chick doesn't appreciate that then she's welcome to fuck off. :) In my experience, I've noticed people are visual creatures. In the case with women, you have to aesthetically appeal to them first and at the right moment. Then they let you inside their bitch shield. Once inside, you can slowly integrate some of your more intellectual pastimes to her and she'll accept them because in the end it could only mean more money (in womanise that's "security") for her. Not too much at once though, they will think you're no longer as exciting, and she'll start to see you as marriage material and not fuck material. peterchen wrote: The final proof for this is: "Casablanca" is often appeciated by men, but rarely by women Well, I've never seen that movie. All I know is that it's a love story, and I'm not interested in that. :) peterchen wrote: But I don't think "intellectual == money == security" Women, as well as men, can very well give up a hot f*** for someone they enjoy waking up together with. Ok, you have to remember that x rarely equals y in all circumstances. I know women who keep money as a top criterion when selecting a partner. She'd kill me if she heard me say this (she doesn't know this site exists fortunately), but one such example is a chick I know named Christie F. These are words from her own mouth! Women (or girlie/insecure guys for that matter) look for security in a serious relationship. <edit> And yes, there are some who get their security by the actual absence of it in a relationship - like they create it in their own minds. </edit> Whether it comes from money, a whimpy guy that takes orders, or whatever. Money can be security for some, but doesn't have to be the only thing that gives it to them. It depends on the person. And people are visual creatures. If you are not even remotely sexually attracted to someone, you'll never have a relationship with them. How many women do you bed that repulse you visually? Just some food for thought... :rose: Jeremy Falcon Imputek "In fact it is quite simple, men and women both only want one thing - what they can't have!" - phykell
