Like I said, I was curious of Fat_Boy's reasoning and ethics, and ethics in general I suppose, in investing in Pharmaceuticals at such a time as now.

Right and I asked you why you think it is profiteering when it is an obvious thing to do? If you find trading on news distasteful, what do recommend is done to prevent it? Should trading be halted on bad news only? How about good news?

It's not investing unless you plan on staying in the position for a long time this simple trading.

Chris, I was curious of Fat_Boy's opinion, and nothing more. I do not have any agenda on this issue. At no time have I condemned investment and do not do so now. On reflection, forget I posed the question.

No worries man, we are all friends here (mostly anyways). I may have just jumped the gun at the profiteering remark since I have been accused of doing just that by others when I have been open honest about shorting banks etc (when it was still allowed) and the automakers. Please excuse my enthusiasm.

Ok, I'm sick of hearing about this stupid flu. I've decided to concentrate my hypochondria on some truly deadly and scary diseases[^]. My favorite is Solanum, perhaps Andromeda is second place, Socialism third (but that's a real disease :) )

That depends on your point of view. My mother caught necrotizing fasciitis after being hospitalized for something else and it killed her, painfully, in a matter of weeks.

I meant 'great' as in 'big'. Yes, it was a nasty one, as you can attest. I always wondered whether theu could modify its geenes to give it a taste for fat rather than protein. Hey presto, instant slim world!

Just curious, but don't you feel a little bad (perhaps uneasy) profiteering from somebody else's misery? Edited on reflection

And to confirm your edit, no, I dont since I am not benefiting form pain, but the relief of it. Not that I particularly care anyway, death is part of life, it cant be avoided any more than pain and pleasure. Life has no morality, so why should I? All that constitutes life, for its 'good' and 'bad' (to use a common mis-deffinition), is all just part of the smorgasbord of experience is it not?

That or someone will get paid a nice bonus :) Personally, I never own stocks but I'd look into going long via a call option.

Why? They are safer than derivatives and do give good returns, particularly over the last half a year.

Dont blame you. I wish to hell I had! Its a game, and we all play it. Us, the system, the corporates, and to pretend there is any morality involved is foolish. They will all fuck each other for the max given the chance. Sorry if I sould cynical but IMO thats the way the world is.
