Less than two-thirds of southerners and Republicans pledge allegiance to the USA[^]

This is objective evidence that Democrats love America more than anyone else. 95 percent of them want their states to remain as part of the union, while only 63 percent -- less than two-thirds -- of Republicans similarly love their country. Hence we'll continue to see wingnutty "sovereignty" resolutions and proclamations made in the South, and you'll continue getting wingnuts like Pittsburgh cop killer Richard Poplawski motivated to defy the authorities. There's a lot of crazy out there, and it's mostly percolating among Republicans. Those bumper stickers that say "these colors don't run"? Well, they're running. America, love it or leave it? Well, they clearly don't love it as they yearn to leave it. And those flag lapel pins? They attacked liberals who wore them when in reality, it was THEM who needed to be pledging allegiance to a flag they'd apparently rather tear up and burn.

If this be treason, I intend to make the most of it.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

Anyone who believes, quotes, or refers to any self-selecting poll - whether its on DailyKos, or OReilly.com or LouDobbbs.com - is either a fruitcake or is trolling. So how many fish did you catch, Ed.

Save yoah Conf'drit money, son, the Sowth shall rise agin. As I pointed out to Stan below - the Republicans, back then, were the left-leaning party. (They actually wanted to abolish slavery, even though the Jeffersonians put it in the Constitution!)

For most intelligible people its not the country they love, what they love is what America stands for or at least what it used to stand for. Today if someone says he loves his country he probably means it in a materialistic nationalistic fascist manor.

I love my country - does that mean I get to live in a manor now? Y'know, you probably should go back to school and see if you can't get a GED.
