My state's Attorney General - who hopes to become governor someday, is threatening to conduct a criminal investigation of Craigslist because it contains ads for prostitutes. Now about 4 miles from my house there's a nightspot with the name "Fetish" in its title. I've never been inside but it sorta kinda looks like a place where play-for-pay ladies might hang out. To the best of my knowledge, South Carolina's AG has never even acknowledged the place's existence let alone threatened to investigate it. This comes after Craigslist was bullied into removing one section of their classified ads and replacing it with a tamer version - the bully in this case was the AG of Illinois - we all know what a fine upstanding state government they've got - who decided that since some jamoke in New England (roughly 800 miles away) was preying on ladies of the night by robbing them and in one case killing them, the proper thing to do was not step up police efforts to catch thieves and murderers, but to make it harder for the prosties to make a living. Presumably, if some guy had been luring plumbers into situations where they would be mugged, Craigslist would have been told they needed to shut down their household repairs section. There is no indication, as of yet, that since a fruitcake went around imitating a wounded war vet and scamming politicians, that Craigslist will be required to remove all political ads from their site, but I'm sure that the AGs of these disunited states will get around to that - as soon as they've built a snowman in hell. No wonder the girls think they need pimps. It's obvious that they lose all their rights as soon as they turn a trick. By the way, I have only been to Craigslist a couple of times and have never seen the recently banned section, though I wouldn't consider it a big deal if I had.

Sure. But what difference does it make? If I thought it was a sin against man and god, I'd still believe that the proper response to them being robbed and murdered is to go after the thieves and murderers.
