Looking at what's going on these days, I find myself wondering whether Pakistan will nuke India, or North Korea will nuke Japan, or Israel will nuke Iran first. My bet is on the Supreme Beloved Leader. Theoretically China holds his leash, but I suspect that as he becomes more and more divorced from reality, the leash becomes less and less powerful.

Weapon of first use rather than weapon of last resort? MAD might apply to Pakistan/India but a different type of madness is relevant for the others. As far as North Korea is concerned, it might just be their way of saying "we want more from the West" and probably not dissimilar to how a child behaves when throwing a toy out of the buggy/pram and nobody giving him/her it back again. OT Looks like somebody has taken a dislike to Starbucks (Manhatton).

I think it is even money between Iran and Israel. Kim whats his name in North Korea will almost certainly be taken out by his own people before he actually tries to nuke someone. And, in any case, he is simply playing a game and having too much fun doing it to ruin it by actually doing anything. Iran and Israel define political instability and unrefined white hot hate. And frankly, who really gives a shit? The rest of us would all be a hell of a lot better of if that entire mess would just disappear in a nuclear fire ball some sunny morning.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

Israel takes out Iran, it simply has to in order to survive. I'll give odds it happens before the end of the year.

Hopefully the U.S. will nuke Israel first, before they drag us into another no-win war. I'm tired of American soldiers being used as Israel's mercenaries to "take out" their "enemies".

I think I agree - with one demurer: Israel will try to do it with conventional weapons, not nukes. If it turns atomic, it will be because Iran has bombs, or dust.

Why the quotes? Sentence reads the same without 'em. I admire the hell out of Israel, but I more than agree. We need to stop making like the world's policeman. Get out of Kosevo, Iraq, Korea, the Phillipines, Germany, England, Australia, Darfur, Georgia and anywhere else we're being asked to fight other's battles or guard their homelands.

George Washington would agree. however, back on point: I don't believe Israel would want us to fight her battles if for no other reason that we can no longer be depended upon to stick if it got difficult.

Couldn't agree more but how are you being asked to fight our battles or guard our homeland? I reckon you do pretty well out of the limited involvement you have over here. Here's an old joke for ya What's the difference between an Australian and a tub of yogurt? One has culture!

I'm not saying that our respective countries should ignore each other - just disband ANZUS ( or at least the US/Australia part. hey, you've got a pretty opera house.

Thanks to a Danish guy who eventually resigned from the project over the way he was treated by our government at the time! Personally I prefer the bridge. Hell of thing to look at up close
