I agree. It was a B+. Given the tightrope he had to walk, that is impressive.

It was very humble and strict at the same time. Its cool from time to time to put things in perspective. I am a bush fan but I have to say I was very impressed.

I know, eventually I'll have to let it go, because nothing will be done about it. Which pisses me off most. But it really is important[^].

You can produce the necessary documentation, run, be elected, sworn in... and still be utterly unqualified for the job. Just distract enough people... It's like an HR department that's completely obsessed with only hiring candidates that have a certain degree. Nothing wrong with it, but wastes time and effort for no real guarantee it'll do anything to help.

Really? Where did you get that fact from? May I remind you of the submarine incident and espoinage? Lebanon is a very small country but I can assure you we have nothing but respect to the US...

I'll grant you that, but its easy to forget about poor Lebanon. Lebanon is a perfect example of why the entire issue of dealing with muslims is a moot point. You could give all of Israel back to the palistinians and in weeks it would be exactly as chaotic as Lebanon is now. The Islamic world is simply culturally incapable of dealing with the radicalism inherent in their religion. Nothing is ever going to change that until the people of Islam have the will to do it themselves. All we in the west can do is try to protect ourselves from it.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

Thats why I was impressed by the speech - he mentioned this very point.

I dont think your analysis of the situation in Lebanon/Region is accurate. There is a bit of truth in what you said that Islam must reconcile with itself i.e. the different cults withing Islam and the fact that Iran is using the weekness to penetrate Arabia. Yet thats not the main reason that there is chaos. The main reason in my opinion is the failure of arab society to create a system of governance that gives people rights to their way of living. In Egypt for example they are all Sunis yet you have a dictator ruling for more than 20+ year. I believe Mr. Bush realized this problem and thats why I endorse his policy.

Most conservatives have been saying that for eight years and being condemned as racist for it.

From my perspective there is absolutely no reason not to believe that is a direct consequence of the religion itself. When virtually every country that embraces the Islamic religion ends up as a dictatorship, a monoarchy or a violent theocracy, a reasonable person has to conclude that the thing that is common among them is likely the cause.

              What about Turkey?

Probably, I am every time I bring it up. Funny thing about that question. It's the only way I know to guarantee you'll get a "shut up".

Oh, *I* know of all sorts of ways to guarantee a "Shut up, I explained" response.
