But, as you see, making even a throwaway comment can get you in a lot of trouble.

Yeah, sounds like a nutcase. Probably imagines himself leading Glenn Beck's Bubba Militia.

Why the hell drag Glenn into this? He is a libertarian just like Oakman is.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

Glenn might be a libertarian, but Oakman isn't a raging nutcase who pretends to cry. -- edit -- What I'm saying here is that being libertarian isn't bad. I don't dislike Glenn Beck because he's libertarian. I dislike him because I can tell that he's acting when he pretends to cry. He's the worst kind of demagogue.

I'm sorry, but I love America and Glenn Beck is one of a handful of people who hate America. I fear that him and people like him could cause the economic collapse of America as early as 2014. I'm not saying all this to scare you, I just want you to think outside the box. Also, I want to talk to you now about something called the "Bubba effect." I believe this part of the scenario is likely to happen, and I hope to God it doesn't, but we need to talk about it. If Glenn Beck gets his way then New York City would look like Mexico City. If you have money or they think you're going to have money, you're going to be a target for a kidnapping. We're going to see major cities look like Calcutta. There is going to be the homeless, panhandlers, hookers, and blackjack. Actually, screw the blackjack.. and the hookers. The best way to parody Glenn Beck is to repeat what he says. I don't dislike him because I disagree with him, I dislike him because he makes up bizarre situations to incite fear.

Anyone who understands the damage currently being done to American civilization has every reason to be afraid. Even though I disagree with his libertarianism, he is far more correct than he is wrong.

This might well be true. Bailing out the banks and GM cost a lot of money. The war in Iraq is costing a lot of money. Those bills are going to have to be paid sometime and it's not going to be fun.

If Beck stuck to the facts, I'd respect him. If he said, "bailing out GM and the banks has cost us X trillion dollars. At the current rate of interest and repayment it's going to take Y years to repay that debt and it's going to cost Z dollars per person every year in income taxes...." then I'd listen. Instead he's saying, "I'm sorry but I love my country and Barack Obama is a Socialist Muslim Extremist boogeyman who is going to eat your children." I don't respect that because he's makin' shit up just to incite fear.

No, thats is a fact for any practical purpose. That is what Obama has always been. The facts demonstrate that conclusively. The man is clearly taking advantage of an economic difficulty to entrench his anti-American agenda.

I've watched Beck's metamorphosis on Fox (not daily, but from time to time which has made in more noticable, I suppose.) Now he has never been the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but he used to be somewhat of a libertarian (there is no cookie-cutter mold for one, of course - except in some idiots' heads.) But the longer he's been on Fox, the more bizarre he's become - from the weepy fits to the bug-eyed warnings of impending doom - to the creepy kind of Christianity he's started to wear on his sleeve. His political philosophy has slid further and further towards O'Reilley's, including wanting to ban this and outlaw that, are require thus and so - hardly a libertarian stance.
