So what does everyone think of the doctrine of preemptive attack ? Where else can it be applied ? Regardz Colin J Davies

Most likely it should have been aplied to germany just before the election, to avoid the renewal of a chancellor that doesn't vow on the bible. A local bible-loving candidate was available, for god's sake. But now, it seems to late. Is there something as a "post-emptive" strike? Or are Cruise Missiles on the places where the votes are counted preemptive enough?

I don't like the idea as applied to recognized states. However, I do like it in regards to stateless entities like Al Queda. IMO, the United States should only act in self-defense in a response to an attack. What happens if it is proven that a state has financed/planned a stateless entity's attack on us? Then we must attack but it would be considered in self-defense.

I think, given the circumstances, it's the best policy. We're also attacking Saddam though, for all the evil things he has continued to do since coming into power, particuarly since the Gulf War. I think the pre-emptive thing is just to stop a lot of people trying to jusifty hitting somebody because you're scared. And who isn't scared of Saddam? There were loads of anti-war protesters outside one of my uni buildings today. I was tempted to have an argument. Like the time I won an argument very sucessfully with a student protesting out student tuition fees. I mean, so what if you have to pay. Students like me dodge tax anyway. If everyone else has to pay to earn, it's only fair we have to pay to learn. That was my closing line, which I was proud of since it rhymes. The proper version had more swearing though, because she was pissing me off. :D
