The government will force everyone into public transport eventually in the name of global warming. You will be cattled up into the train cars, scanned, and checked several times a day. When the authorities stop your train car to check for terrorists, everyone will be required to curl up in little ball and keep totally quiet until you are picked up, dragged out, and strip searched.

Obloga Obama Blog[^] Diet, injections, and injunctions will combine, from a very early age to produce the sort of character and sort of beliefs that authorities consider desirable. Any serious criticism of the powers that be will become psychologically impossible.

It doesn't matter if smoking is bad for your health or not. It is not the governments job to tell people they can't (or tax to hell) smoke, or drink coffee, eat salt or sugar and so on. Here is a wild idea. How about people make decisions about their own lives without government intervention. I think humans are capable enough to handle their own affairs and make their own decisions about what they put in their body.

Senator Al Gore Putting People First 1992 ------ "The sacrifice of personal existence is necessary to secure the preservation of the species." Adolph Hitler Mein Kampf 1923 ------ If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever." O'Brien to Winston George Orwell 1984 1949

It will matter when you get national health care - then the government has to pay medical costs of smokers. :~

One of the main reasons governments want to control health care is, well, control. Slowly but surely, the people will be reined in, but it wont end. It will continue to be incremented until we are nothing more than slaves, and it wont even stop there. Genetic engineering and biotech will be used to make an entirely new species of borg like drones 50-100 years from now. It will be done slowly to squeeze out the rebels and fighters so they can be dealt with more easily. People will be propagandized incrementally into a state where they demand to be slaves.
