My gripe with online games...

...is that they let little children play them when they should be doing their homework. At least that would have been my gripe if the guy who just banned me from his DFLW server wasn't a 35 year old ex. service US Marine. You see apparently you are not allowed to kill the hosting player because when he respawns he might not be able to fit his ego back into his pants. I was told about three seconds before I was punted and permanantly banned "that was ur last warning ur banned". I, having a dial up Internet account, changed my IP and rejoined under a different name, indentified myself as the original player and asked why I was banned and what warnings I had had. Apparently I had been sneaking around killing him, and I was obviously cheating because of that (it was a sniper game hence the sneaking part). He even had the nerve to call me a newbie (I had been playing DFLW as each of the player classes since the day the first demo was released to the public around three years ago and happen to be extremely good at both deathmatch and team-orientated games). Oh well, after wasting an hour of my life with this looser I have added his server to my list of "waste-of-space server" list and so banned that egorant[^] wanker from wasting any more of my time.

Between campers and people who are obviously using cheats it's hard to find decent people in online games. I used to play Diablo II, and once someone who was 10+ levels above me decided to PK me. I guess it stroked his ego to kill someone who didn't even expect it. Thankfully someone in the same game noticed and came to PK'd him in return after I made a bit of noise about it. Then he left the server. I've got a couple roomates who are good sports though, so usually I can play multiplayer games on the LAN with them instead of wasting time trying to find decent players on the net.
So in the interests of survival, they trained themselves to be agreeing machines instead of thinking machines. All their minds had to do was to discover what other people were thinking, and then they thought that, too."

Breakfast of Champions, Kurt VonnegutYeah, luckily that sort of thing is generally not accepted on Battlenet, and other players do step in. Generally players like that get weeded out pretty quickly. The following statement about your geekness is true.

I don't know about you, but I can't take people who use grammar like this seriously. Your point about little children was what put me off online games 2 years ago. It's more accessable for children to jump onto a server now, and to sod everyone's game up by using excessive 1337 and generally acting like little assholes.

The previous statement about your geekness is false.Battle.net is awesome. I've played WC3 on it several times and I always wind up playing some really good games. A lot of the guys I play with are really good strategists and I've had a lot of fun. The people that just totally send me over the edge are the ones who use the maphacks. Blizzard had about 30,000 CD-Keys revoked from Battle.net because they were using the maphack. :omg: The network was a lot quicker the next day. :-D Norm Almond: I seen some GUI's in my life but WTF is this mess ;-) Leppie: I made an app for my sister and she wouldnt use it till it was colorful enough:) Norm:good point leppie, from that statement I can only deduce that this GUI must be aimed at children:laugh: Leppie:My sister is 25:eek: -Norm on the MailMagic GUI
