I was a broadcast engineer for a radio network. I was to escort Mr Buchanan to the studio and run T1, mics, sound levels... everything except call screening. Before Mr Buchanan came to the studio everyone "reporters, editors in the news room" were calling him names saying what a son of a bitch he was. Most of it was unfounded, they just didn't like him for his libertarian views. I found him a gentlemen and very tolerant while I set up the equipment. While the show was going on they filed past on the tech side of the glass and commented what a mother fucker he was, and how they hoped he died. I never forgot that. This is the main stream media. Whether he is a bigot or not I don't know, but he was a nice forgiving person for a new broadcast engineer for whom "the talent" traditionally has no patience for the least fuck up, and I will never forget that.
I suspect a lot of people with extreme views, fail to live up to them in person.

And on the other hand, those people would have almost certainly never met him, and based thier feelings on what the media told them. They may have been right, he may be a racist. But, it's funny how people are so sure about people they have never met, based on a biased media.

Funny enough, I believe actual scientists over youtube. I believe we're going to run out of affordable oil in my lifetime. I believe the world is getting warmer. If we're causing it or not, I think the jury is out. Either way, overpopulation in particular means we need to find less space intensive ways to generate energy and food, without an overreliance on fossil fuels. Do I believe 'The Day After Tomorrow' will happen ? No. do I think pacific islands will drown ? No. I think there's lies told on both sides. The world still needs smarter sources of energy, for a variety of reasons.

You read the whole bill ? Or you read some snippets with a 'translation' provided by someone on youtube ? You often seem unable to tell the difference between these sort of things. For example, the second any one part of a youtube conspiracy video is fact, ie that someone said the words 'new world order', you believe everything else they say, is also proven.

Well, those people become the 'elite' by being successful. How is it that only people who are communists, are successful ? If that's true, wouldn't that prove communism is better ? I went to a church once that told me all rock bands were in the church of Satan. I asked how people got forced to join, and as I played guitar, at what point these people would come to my door and either ban me from playing or force me to join. They went quiet. Your logic seems to me to be the same.

This is your mantra. Only people who have never had any sort of power would assume that anyone with any sort of success, would be corrupted by it. You're saying the problem cannot be solved, because anyone who is successful, becomes corrupted, and, therefore, a communist ?

Yeah, like I said, I think the jury is out on that, too. I have a good mate who works for the CSIRO ( as a scientist, not a toilet cleaner or something ) and I've spoken to him, and there's no doubt the world is warming.

It's worse than that. they think, what they say is diluted into something newsworthy, and most people read a headline and base their views on that. Or they base them on what they hear in church, or what they think is a 'socialist' viewpoint.

True, but while we have plenty of (relatively) cheap fossil fuel, there is no great incentive for the big oil companies to do anything else... Much the same as when any promising new technology was touted, it was bought and buried by the big oil companies...
