If an email did that to me, I would hunt down the sender, and remove large lumps of their body with a rusty [CENSORED] [CENSORED] before [CENSORED] a melon [CENSORED]. Twice. Sideways.

No trees were harmed in the sending of this message; however, a significant number of electrons were slightly inconvenienced. This message is made of fully recyclable Zeros and Ones

It will not work. Because, what you want is the same thing what a spammer / virus do. Your code will be removed/blocked from mailserver, or from outlook client, or antivirus. That means, forget it....!!! A "normal" user just send an email like this: ------------------------------- Please provide me your bithday Name : Birthday : Thanks... -------------------------------

Your request looks exactly like a spammer / phishing attack, even if it isn't the intention.

thanks. i have already done so (sending emails) but this one what i planned to create, was kind of forced reminder to all my firends who are too lazy to reply and didn't gave details till now. so i thought to send a different reminder... thanks for you suggestion... will stop this thought now...

You cannot force your friends to give you their birthday. It's a privacy.

Instead of sending the mail content as plain text, send as html there you could write your javascript. but iam not sure about, how the client machine antivirus will allow this kind of script in the mail content.

My appologies if I offended you. However, if you are considering writing something that will make someones machine do unexpected things, you have to consider what the reaction will be. What would you think was happening if you recieved an email that did what you describe?

Glad you learnt something today. Another thought for you, consider that the people who you are sending your request to DON'T WANT to respond with their birthdays. Many of us refuse to disseminate this type of personal information to anyone but family and very close friends. That is why Griff responded so strongly. What you proposed to send to your friends is considered extremely intrusive.

I think it was a perfectly acceptable response, I wish I could leap down the line and rip some peoples lungs out, this guy would have been one of them. Friends like that who needs spammers.

Thats part of the point, I guess - if it could open a window, it could send an email to your entire address book. Which would look like it came from a friend...

thanks Mycroft. yes, i will consider your thoughts... may be i belong to india where people are more open and here sharing birthdates are not big deals and also not considered to be very secret information for onself to share with firends... so i feel lots of contradition is there because of the way we live, the way our culture is... :) i will also consider this from next time... thanks :)

Thats part of the point, I guess - if it could open a window, it could send an email to your entire address book. Which would look like it came from a friend...

If an email did that to me, I would hunt down the sender, and remove large lumps of their body with a rusty [CENSORED] [CENSORED] before [CENSORED] a melon [CENSORED]. Twice. Sideways.

Instead of sending the mail content as plain text, send as html there you could write your javascript. but iam not sure about, how the client machine antivirus will allow this kind of script in the mail content.
