How Many of Me?[^] [it claims that there are only 7,986 Americans with my surname, and 6 with my first and last name combination] [edit: I know of (but do not know) two of those alleged others.]

Wow, im not in the US but thats still interesting. If I use my birth name (James) and my surname, there are ~1600 people. If I drop to my more common name (Jamie) that drops to ~100. Thats a hell of a difference.

I expect that the "results" are statistical calculations, rather than actual counts.

There are 21 people in the U.S. named Brady Kelly. I know of none in SA, but I'm no census beauro.

I have been trying for weeks to get this little site indexed. If you wonder what it is, or would like some informal accommodation for the 2010 World Cup, please click on this link for Rhino Cottages.

They are. Come up with something odd enough and it'll say 1 or less.

Gazillions with my first name. 'About' 114 with my surname. None with the same complete name.

Chris - 339,693 people with Chris as first name. 89.14% are male. Meech - 670 people with Meech as last name. Chris Meech - only 1 person in United States with that name. And it ain't me. It would be weird to meet this individual and find there is some family resemblance. Especially considering my UEL history. :)

My result was 'one or less'. So, I suspect that the smaller the number, the more likely the DB will have an unacceptable margin of error.

As I remember it, Germans are the largest ethnic group in the US. Even bigger than English and Irish.

UEL. Big part of Canadian history, but maybe not so for American history. United Empire Loyalists. These were groups of people who emigrated to Canada from the colonies during and after independance to show their loyalty to the crown. In my partcular case, my ancestor was one Asa Meech for whom Meech Lake is named for. In his case he was expelled from the United States because of his preachings of remaining loyal to the crown many years following independance. :) The first result of a Google.ca search is this link[^]. Nice touch that it mentions family camping since 1784.

Still doesn't answer the question, Oh Brainiac! Also, and importantly, as all but idiots know, intelligence is not simply a matter of collecting facts, but rather is the inate ability to integrate the facts one has collected. It would seem to me that "dumb as a stump" might more profitably be applied to those who do not understand what "dumb as a stump" means.

Ah! Those old "traitors" ;P ... and, apparently, the reason so many Canadian always imagine themselves to be so morally superior to Americans. As you surely know, the phrase "United Empire Loyalists" is not used in the US. We call them "Tories" (or "traitors," though that's not at all fair).
