I'm evaluating very seriously working on another country. Any of the fellow CPians have any information on how to get a job in one of these countries: Spain, France , England , Ireland , Germany , Netherlands , Luxemburg , Belgium, Switzerland ? There are any agency that could help me in getting a job on any of the above countries ? I known that are some agencies that help foreign workers on getting It jobs , but I don't known of none. Any good sites that could ease my task of looking for a C++ programmer/developer job on these countries ? Any kind of informational, positive and negative feedbacks are welcome :-) Cheers,Joao Vaz And if your dream is to care for your family, to put food on the table, to provide them with an education and a good home, then maybe suffering through an endless, pointless, boring job will seem to have purpose. And you will realize how even a rock can change the world, simply by remaining obstinately stationary.-Shog9

Forget Luxembourg. It would be nice for you since 19% of the inhabitants are portugese but its almost impossible to get a work permit for Portugese here. They have kind of a stop for them now. I would suggest you look at www.monster.com, they are nicely sorted. ...if you're under 8 or younger. Chris Maunder, the Lounge

I am a Canadian living in Canada, and have looked extensively into working in England and/or Ireland / and/or Scotland - in essence, the UK. It is quite difficult. (I was applying as a quant analyst - someone who does stock/option pricing. Specialized work. Haven't had much luck so far). There are basically 2 entry routes. You can either apply to an employer who then files for a work permit on your behalf or apply for a work permit yourself. I have found the number of companies willing to do this in the minority, as they essentially have to demonstrate that out of every eligible candidate in the European union, you (as an outsider) can fill the position better than anyone else (in the EU). Secondly, you can apply for a work permit directly to the English/Irish/Scottish government. This is also difficult. This is done on a points system. You have to accumulate 75 points - which is *not* easy. For example, one section gives you points based on your previous income, but you can't score anything reasonable unless you have earned $90,000+ CDN in the previous year. The UK is basically looking for top-notch talent. (Not that I'm a slouch - but I am not earning that at the moment...) It is highly competitive and difficult. I am still trying...
