Attention, participants in our sorry excuses for political and social-economical debates. Please be aware of the following facts: Fact #1 The government is not out to get you. You as an individual are insignificant and beneath notice, just like the rest of us. If you were significant enough to be worth targeting, you would be on national television or radio instead of in the obscure "Back Room" of a computer geek website. Fact #2 The government of [insert your country] IS probably trying to dominate the world, but is extremely unlikely to accomplish this goal, because every other government is trying to do the same thing. Fact #3 The government is not trying to destroy the general population. Without the general population, there would be no one to rule over, and the government would just be a bunch of idiots who suddenly have to do their own laundry. Hanlon's Razor[^] teaches us to "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity." It is far more likely that the government is simply incompetent. Fact #4 The current system is not perfect, but it's better than anarchy and chaos. Fact #5 Solutions that work in theory do not necessarily work in practice. As a reference, see the well-known Law of Unintended Consequences[^]. Also, if your proposed solution to the imperfect system has a requirement such as "Everyone has to be smart enough to ____," it will not work. Fact #6 Just because [public figure] says something, doesn't make it true. This includes, but is not limited to, politicians, celebrities, and media personalities. As a corollary, just because a YouTube video or website has X million hits does not make it true. That is all. You may now return to your regularly-scheduled program.

How do you know for sure? lol I mean come on... Germany? Korea? You never know man... lol Yeah and about these FEMA camps... what a bunch of bull. What in the hell would they do with them? I think our government is at least competent enough to know that we'd notice them before they'd make use of them.

Yeah I've heard of that... but they would have gone through with that long ago. This is what I'd call a conspiracy theory, something that can't be fully proven. Though with all of the emergency powers of the president, I guess it could happen. But definitely not gonna happen any time soon.

All it takes is enough of the right people to support such action. I'm sorry to say that much of America today is a bunch of fat, lazy, ignorant, immoral, corrupt, welfare monkeys looking for a buzz.

I'd agree with this statement. Fully. Especially the ignorant and immoral part. But look around. Places that have been called "potential FEMA camps" are just run down train stations and the like. They would have put this through in the eighties, as the name suggests. So I still think this is a bunch of crap. People are seriously waking up and slowly becoming more of a moral people (even though this site doesn't seem to have that capacity so much), AND the dollar is collapsing with the crazy debt, therefore I'd say that they won't be able to go through with it even if they wanted to.

That is what Glenn Beck says, however its not true. FEMA camps are prisons on military installations, even schools and super domes. Any building that can hold large numbers of people that is easily secured can be used as a FEMA camp. There are many sites that can hold tens of thousands of people and be easily secured. Remember all it takes is the right people to support it. Say the new plague or some mutated H1N1, bio-warfare, a nuclear attack strikes. I think that would be enough to crystallize support to round up or quarantine mass numbers of people. Also, camps have been established and used before in around WW2. Japanese Americans were rounded up and forced to live in camps. It happened then, something like it can happen again. I agree though that is is highly improbable due to the fact that there are over 90 million gun owners in America and those are the ones being targeted. The spirit of 1776 America is still too strong to conquer.

I'm just going to note, most of the time this is a contradiction. Baring structures built intentionally to be easy to secure a large number of people, most can be an absolute nightmare to manage any such activity.

I agree with this... it's just too incredible to believe that FEMA will go around to every city and town and dictate people on what to do. The US government doesn't have the money for it. There are too many "emergency exits" to most buildings, especially government run buildings. And we won't put up with it, as has been said.

By definition. So what ? How does that remotely prove they ever will be ?

My bet is they find everything that FEMA is considering for emergency sheltering and assume it's a death camp to be.
