How far down the rabbit hole(line of thinking) do you think people can go before they cannot see the light they left(truth) and can't admit to being wrong because it would make them look foolish? ie: holocaust deniers For whatever reason it sorta came to mind to ask the question since so much dialog I've seen about events leaving out the obviousness of very recent past events. How do you know what you know is true when it comes to history anything for that matter when you haven't necessarily experienced it yourself?

Depends on the person. I can be pretty obtuse but still able to see the mistake when someone finally explains it in a way I can grasp. Other people are far worse, others much more open minded. Anytime someone is determined not to look weak or has a cause they wish to promote, be ready for someone that won't change their mind at all.

Human nature is pretty much universal. We are a bunch of dicks. Given a choice between comfort and someone else getting treated horribly, we will be comfortable in most cases. Anything where you see a group being treated as sub-human is likely true because one group felt they could get away with it and could justify it to themselves by classifying these other people as below them. It happens today and it has happened in the past. So why do we need to have experienced it when we can see similar cases even now and reasonably extend that to the past situation?

Being a dick is part of the human condition, psychopathy is just the outer limits of that which humans can reach. Perfectly normal people have absolutely no problem with enforcing their will on others because they think they know better, "they don't belong here", or pretty much any way you rationalize away making a cent more than you absolutely need without giving it to someone else who could use it to survive. You could give the money to them, let them live, but instead you keep it, they die, but hey it's not your fault, they didn't do anything to deserve that money. Right?

I've seen people have some pretty radical shifts, from raving lunatic who's comments made a top 100 listing for most fundamentalist to emailing me and saying 'holy crap, I was that stupid' two years later. The quote would still be up there if not for a change of format, he didn't want it taken down. I'm not sure there's ever a point where they can't realize they're wrong, but there's most definitely a point at which people can't be intentionally influenced to change their mind, it has to be a realization of their own rather than the hammer of logic. I'd say it's right around the point where you start thinking in terms of us vs them.

You think he may be tiffin wallah to Monckton Sahib? Possibly, more likely to be the punkha wallah, though. A simple, repetitive task, easily mastered, and time consuming.

Both require a certain degree of respect to his Lord and master, with the latter being devoid of unnecessary brain-flexing, and would indeed suit him well.

Well some of it is just down to good ol fashioned ignorance and certain levels of acceptance, i.e. if there'd been an actual martian landing but details were sparse, people would beless likely to endorse it. The thing about believing what happened and I can't believe I'm quoting CSI here is that the physical evidence doesn't lie. Interpretations might though through pure bullheadedness.
