It’s Official: A Majority Of Americans Would Give Up Liberty In Order To Be Safe From Terrorism
-
“They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.” -Benjamin Franklin It is now official. A majority of Americans are willing to give up liberty in order to be safer from terrorism. A stunning new McClatchy-Ipsos poll has found that 51 percent of Americans agree with this statement: ”it is necessary to give up some civil liberties in order to make the country safe from terrorism.” Only 36 percent of those polled agreed with this statement: “some of the government’s proposals will go too far in restricting the public’s civil liberties.” So are Americans really this stupid? Have they really been brainwashed into willingly giving up their essential liberties just so they can feel a little safer? Maybe they have. After all, a new USA TODAY/Gallup poll says that 78 percent of Americans approve of the new full body scanners that the U.S. government wants to install in all U.S. airports. So almost 4 out of 5 Americans are perfectly fine with letting airport security officials gawk at their naked bodies just so they can feel a bit safer from terrorists. How sick is that? The truth is that when Americans allow themselves to become so wimpy and so fearful that they are willing to throw many of their most important freedoms out the window, those responsible for the terror scares have won. In fact, Amerika (formerly America) is very quickly becoming a brutal police state where privacy is a thing of the past and where free speech and alternative points of view are openly repressed. For example, in a 2008 academic paper President Barack Obama’s appointee to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs advocated “cognitive infiltration” of groups that advocate “conspiracy theories”. Infiltration of groups with alternative viewpoints that the government doesn’t like? Do we live in East Germany? Apparently we do. Americans do not care about their freedoms and liberties anymore, so now they are being taken away. And apparently the message of the most recent polls is that Americans are perfectly fine with that. http://www.infowars.com/its-official-a-majority-of-americans-would-give-up-liberty-in-order-to-be-safe-from-terrorism/[

Unfortunately people are more scared of the unknown and the irony of this article is that it comes from a website that promotes fear, paranoia and mistrust of their fellow citizen.

Who promotes fear is the government to sell tyranny and make gobs of money for corporations that promote their agenda.

Again, the hyperbole.

That is actually true, and it's not what the previous sentence claims. For example, if police can't monitor online conversations, or tap phones, then they can't find terrorists. You lost the freedom to take your own bottle of drink on a flight, to stop bombs on planes. That's just how it is.

You are asking somewhat intelligent programming questions on this site. Are you really able to understand that, and NOT see how this person is exaggerating and lying to try to prove their point. The outline of my body is visible in one of those x-ray machines. I am yet to be convinced just how much people can see, and if you're a woman, I am sure there's nothing to see. If you're a guy, and you dress the 'right' way, it's possible the person scanning may get some idea of your girth. Perhaps I'm just not as uptight and insecure as Americans, but I fail to see why I should give a damn about that.

More exaggeration and outright lies. Labels like 'Amerika' are used by these people to make it seem official, and more scary. It's just propaganda.

And yes, they tell the same stories over and over.

The images are very detailed. Its a black & white image of your naked body. Most images you see on the news are blurred for decency reasons.

When we 'package' code up we blew a hole in the change management system because we were bundling too much code up. In other words my package was too big. That was the joke on my team for a long while. Something like "Make sure you're package isn't too big this time"... "Is your package to big?"...etc. Needless to say we still get a chuckle out of it.

And you can opt out of it. Oh wait, you guys forgot to mention that. You are allowed to ask for a pat down. They cannot say no. Security in an airport is theater. This is well known. So far the 3 major attempts to do a terrorist attack have all been stopped by the passengers.

I'm sorry that your fear that some random security dude will see your johnson seemed more important to you than answering the rest of my post. Assuming this is true, I'd like one of those cameras, where can I get one ? However, in the meantime, I still don't give a damn about it. As someone else said, you can opt out if you're scared of people seeing your tiny pecker.
