I got visual studios on my netbook as a download from my school. I downloaded it onto my external hard drive, but after it has downloaded it wants to "burn image disk." Being a netbook it obviously does not have a cd drive to carry out this function. My question is, does it require this function just because I have downloaded it to an external hard drive? or is there any way I can run the program on my netbook?

If it is an ISO image then you can access it with one of the free 'ISO reader' programs like isobuster[^].

[^] This will add a "virtual" cd/dvd/brd drive to your computer to allow you to mount the image (.iso)
