I just noticed that I can no longer edit the questions in quick answers. Have the rules changed or what?

I'm not sure I agree with the editing restrictions. It looks like it's been made almost impossible to edit anything that isn't yours, regardless of your current membership status. So how many people *can* edit? Maybe a half dozen? With the seeming inability of most people to properly format their messages, we're going to be inundated with impossible to read questions until one of the Golden Six decides they want to edit something themselves. I noticed I can't edit/delete them anymore either. So what's the magic number that gives us the power back? Is it a total reputation score (which I think it *should* be)? Is it a certain score on a specific set of categories? Is it the phase of the moon at the time you're reading the question?

Look at you member profile. You will see the new reputation system has kicked in for each of the levels. I wondered the same thing after trying to edit someones cr@p in the QA's and noticed my edit rights gone.

It was/is silver or above, but what does that mean with the per category levels? Do you have to be silver or above for all levels now to edit a question? In which case how would someone get thier editor level up to silver?

John, Look at the yellow panel at the top of the Rep Faq, it states; The current requirements are that members must be Silver or above to edit Quick Answers or Questions. Other items are editable depending on what edit restriction the author specified.

I agree, as I just posted to Dave above if it is say silver and above for all categories how do you get your editor category up to silver if you can't edit questions. If you look at the organiser category it's "Organises and retags content" how does someone retag content if you can't edit? It may be that only CG can edit questions now.

This was exactly what i was also saying. At times, we format the questions and make them readable in order to answer them. Now, we are unable to do that :( Might be, people having Authority of more than silver should also be given power to edit/improve the questions. What say?

Why Organiser? I didn't see that mentioned anywhere. I would have thought Authority would have been a better category, Organiser just means you have up and down voted posts/articles not really an indicator of someones ability to edit a question.

Oops! I just checked the chart again... looks like its Editor reputation that drives it. Though i too agree, Authority too must be a part of it.

Yeah, I saw that, but you'd think that with over over nine years of membership, over 96,000 rep points (almost 20,000 of those since the 01/01), 43 articles, 11 tips, and 18,000 messages, a user (me) would have some special considerations, but since our singular member status levels went the way of the dodo, I'm just an ordinary Joe like pretty much everyone else here. There's no such thing as "rare air" here anymore, and that doesn't inspire continued extra-effort in terms of participation. Like I said, I'm hoping this is just an unintended side-effect. EDIT ============ Silver in what exactly? I'm platinum in four of the seven categories, and I can't edit/delete? Besides that, if I can't edit, how can I increase my editor points?

As I pick myself up of the floor after bowing down before such greatness, I am sure Chris and his team will sort it out. I dare say it is one of those "Toronto, we have a problem" moments. It will all come out in the wash.

So how then do you increase your editor rep, if you can't edit?

I just noticed that I can no longer edit the questions in quick answers. Have the rules changed or what?

Looks like the permissions weren't wired up correctly. I'm going to rework that bit and make it clearer (and get you guys your editing status back)

That's the great thing about living in Australia, by the time I wake up the next day things are usually fixed.
