Just to give you a more colourful response than what would be allowed in the Lounge, you tosser - several other CPians reported it working, and for the ones for whom it didn't - those with half a brain would have found the target image with little or no effort, the others (which I am quite certain you belong to) could simply shrug their sholders and go flip the next burger. I'm not worked up. I am hardly annoyed. Well, a little annoyed with a select few individuals. But nonetheless, since you choose to take a more civil approach - care to explain to me what warranted the hostility? I've always experienced the Lounge as a friendly forum, until recently. //L

Aside from the 1 votes, I failed to see the outward hostility in any responding post, a couple of attempted comedic jabs, true, but nothing blatantly mean spirited.
Poor phrasing on my part. What I meant was the 1-voting. I couldn't see any reason for it. Now one could argue that "if you bitch about it, you deserve it", a point I am willing to concede, but 8-9 of those 1's were there before I commented on it. As for Caslen - he just strikes me as the kind of character that enjoys getting a rise out of people. I get a rise out of people that attempts the same strategy in real life. But there things have consequenses, so they most often don't. //L

Almost all of the drivel that I post generates 1 votes. I guess my eyesight is bad enough (Wanker that I am) that I don't notice or worry about it. ;P Really I appreciate 1 votes it means people are actually reading my posts! :-\ So you post a link that generates a download (yep it did it for me too) and you expect the link clicker to figure out how to fix the link and then get pissed that they actually uni-vote you? :omg:

Here's a thought, which is what I would have done had the situation been reversed: "Dude, the link doesn't work! Pls fix0r!" And that would have been the end of it. As for the second part of your query - I suppose I do expect a little much. But then I assumed a developers forum would be (mostly) inhabited by intelligent people. So I guess I've made something or other out of all of us. //L

I'm not really sure it has anything to do with intelligence. I'm guessing most people who get anything as trite as a link to a funny picture can not be arsed to fix a broken link be they developer or otherwise. And yes I agree a quick post that says "Broken link you tosser, please fix!" might have been nicer than a univote most of the developers I know are lazy as all get out and click on the 1 was easier than posting a helpful note! ;)

My God! I haven't been to CP for weeks then I come back to this sort of crap. you got 1 voted in the lounge? OMG! FFS stop wasting bandwidth! you posted something which (for the majority, it seems) at best linked to an image saying 'no hotlinking' and at worst tried to download a file. And you expect what? people to not only go out and search for teh image you meant to post, but also to vote you a five? Jeez maybe I'll stay away until some semblance of sanity is restored!
