Hi, My computer doesn't boot in safe mode:F8 has no effect.Also,when I try to boot from my CD XP SP2,it doesn't let me do that:F12 has no effect I can't do anything with my PC:showing the error dialog and reboot,can't execute any thing. Thks :)

Once you see the boot-menu, you should "at least" be able to select one of the options using the up-/down arrow keys. You state that you can't "execute anything"; does that mean that you can't enter the command prompt in safe mode, do you get an error when running a command, or does the keyboard refuse? Does your PC have an option to boot from USB? It might be more efficient to salvage your work from the broken system and to reinstall it, depending on the cause.

start windows normally.knowing that I tried all suggestions and nothing happens if I put the cd rom windows xpSP3 EVEN boot from CD (F12) Thank you for helping me Cordially
hello friend, you can recover your OS,frist you should set your first boot device in CMOS System. you can press del when your compute start and enter BIOS System,there you can set your first boot device maybe my answers is not available for you , ps: I am freshman in this field...

Hi, I enter the bios system but I doesn't know what option i choose? Also i don't understand u sentence:,first you should set your first boot device in CMOS System. Can u help me to know how using CMOS sytem bios. Thanks :((

You didn't spill coffee on your keyboard, did you? Time to boot from some other device and whipp out some diagnose-tool. Does the system boot from a floppy? Can it be booted otherwise?

From which we deduce that you have a floppy-drive. I'm going to guess that it's booting to the harddisk without even trying the floppy. Which brings you indeed to the BIOS-settings, which will vary depending on your brand. You can usually enter the BIOS by hitting the
DELkey a few times, just before the PC tries to boot. There should be some entry that defines in what order to "try" the bootdevices. That won't repair your PC btw, it would only allow you to boot again. From there-on, you'd still have to repair the system. An alternative option would be to create a CD that you can boot from. There are various Live-CD's available for download, complete with virusscanners :)I are Troll :suss:

Just put the CD and boot, when it gives you the press "any Key..." dialog with a different Keyboard then the one you are currently using hit spacebar, let setup start, hit "f8" at the license agreement all that jazz and instead of giving you the format drive screen it will let you reinstall right over the old install you may have to re-register some programs but it is the easiest "dead-OS" fix I know of. - OR - The other option is go into the bios options and systematically disable Devices until your OS starts. What this does is gives you a couple of hints as to what the issue is/was. If a piece of Hardware Died you will know when you re-enable it. However I find that is usually not the case, I seem to come across more often is IRQ conflict, You install some program that tries to use some IRQ that is already bound up and it crashes every-time upon boot, the solution I use in this latter case I start safe-mode with cmd-prompt. first thing i do is type "Explorer.exe" I do it this way because it is the least amount of windows to start and still be useful (I like the mouse) Then I do a quick regedit and remove the last thing I installed from the key that deals with autostart along with the keys for the last thing I installed. If you didn't install anything the first or second fixes will take care of you.
If it has an OS, I've broken it(and the OS)... If it has a problem, I've fixed it(Or worked around it)... If it is older than dirt, I love it(Then I install an OS and break it)...
