Every now and then something happens that just stops you dead in your tracks

I went for a walk at lunch time, as I approached a set of about 10 concrete steps outside the building two women appeared at the top of the stairs. One of them tripped and I watched in slow motion as she fell forward and slid / bounced her way, face down, down the stairs. She was a little shaken and had a few grazes but her friend and I helped her get up and dust her off. The poor woman was very embarrassed. Anyway, I was thinking about those few seconds that she was falling and how many different thoughts I'd had in that short time. Oh shit Ouch Am I really seeing this? yep Ouch Could I catch her? nope Ouch Crap, she accelerating, should I get out of her way? she stopped sliding at my feet but it was close When I returned to my desk I saw CSS's posts below about a 'free market'. While considering the level of his stupidity I realised that seeing a thread about politics with lots of posts by him caused a similar reaction in me to seeing the woman fall down the stairs. I knew it was going to end badly but just couldn't help myself, I read them.

ROTFL !!! Yeah, it's like being in a car, driving past an accident. You know it's ugly, but you can't help looking.
