Something similar has been working in the UK for a while now When finishing online transactions with your debit / credit card. The transaction is then sent to your bank for authorisation and the bank then requests that you complete a security process that you set up the first time you try online purchasing. The have been different type of securty systems on bank accounts for years including card tokens

Any programmer can write code, but a GOOD programmer can communicate with his peers and end users to figure out what needs to be written. Titles are made to look flashy on business cards and CVs, to impress people who don't yet know you. In my last job, I had the title of "Vice President." Did that mean I was the second-in-command of the 14,000-member company? No, "Vice President" was simply the first rank above "Employee". It was just a title designed to make people feel special, while actually being completely meaningless. Titles mean absolutely nothing, unless backed up by skill, power, or responsibility.

Sparky, I'm a grad of one of the best Software Engineering programs in the country. I could, given time, build you a CPU, write an assembly interpreter for it, write a compiler on top of that and use the remainder to program. Does that make me a software engineer? Nope, it's just background information to keep into consideration when I do what a software engineer actually does, Engineer Software.

I highly doubt that you could do all of that by yourself given the complexity of an 8086 processor for instance, and the engineering that went into that. You cant just throw a bunch of transistors together. There are RF issues, heat issues, timing issues and so on.

I said I could, I didn't say it'd be any good. I understand the principles involved, I've done every stage at one point or another, all part of learning it in the first place. Can you say the same? Or have you dabbled in Assembly and think you know what you're doing? When you've dealt with byte codes on a deliberately obfuscated CPU, formating them in a basic text editor and using that to execute commands and create an interpretor, get back to me.
