http://tomnelson.blogspot.com/2010/07/settled-science-can-everyplace-really.html[^] Ah, hang on, if most of the globe is getting hotter then so is the average, so these places must be continuously outdoing each other momentarially before the average catches up! Runaway global warming indeed! Of course this is ridiculous. Not only is it bad maths its also completely untrue: http://www.john-daly.com/stations/stations.htm[^] yep, not much is happening, some getting colder, some getting warmer.

I didn't click your links (I seldom do  ) but of course it's possible for the majority to be above average. Let's say points A, B, C, and D are getting warmer by 5 °C per decade and point E is at constant temperature. The average is 20 / 5 = 4 °C per decade. 80% of your sample space is warming up faster than average. I still remember your "If a trend is global, it should be representative across all subsets" bollocks.

Cheers, विक्रम (Got my troika of CCCs!) "cant stand heat myself. As soon as its near 90`F I seriously start to loose interest in doing much." - fat_boy. "Finally we agree, a little warming will be good if it makes you shut the f*** up about it." - Tim Craig.

Ah, dont be angry. Just because I said the best thing to come out of India was chicken madras and chapattis! ;P ;) Of course, it is possible for the majority of the planet to warm faster than the average provided that warming isnt too severe and the minority offsets that warming by being far colder. But here, we are assured the entire globe is warming, but huge parts of it are warming FAR more than the average. THIS is impossible. As for the global thing being bollocks it isnt you know. You cant have global warming if some parts are warming, some are cooling, and the rest not doing much. Clearly, thats regional warming, regional cooling and regional fuck all. If you dont get that then you are really sold on the message I guess.

Global Warming = Average global temperature goes up. That doesn't mean every single region gets warmer. Global Cooling = Average global temperature goes down. That doesn't mean every single region gets cooler. Climate Change = Individual regions get warmer or cooler (Or wetter or drier), and the global average may or may not change.

Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in?

A logical definition perhaps, but not one the AGWers would agree with. Dont foerget that the principle argument is that CO2 drives up temperatures.

That's because you haven't eaten Thalipeeth or Masala Vadas or Tomato Pappu or any of a thousand dishes. Anyway, Indian food in Britain is a joke, except for a very small number of places. I suspect they do the Indian dishes "British style" for the locals. :suss: Don't forget our other important contribution to the world - zero. :)

Ah, the old "If you're not with us, you're against us" doctrine. I don't necessarily agree with Pachauri and the rest just because I believe your GW posts are rubbish. ;)

Food: I was in Hyderabad some time back and for sure, the food is a lot better in India, but there were some dishes which were very similar to dishes in the UK if cooked by a decent restaurant; and there are increasing numbers of good Indian restaurants there these days. Of course there are plenty of average restaurants too. Have you ever been to the UK and tried a curry there? Of course one reason for the UK curries being difeent to INdia is because almost all of them are actualy Pakistani restaurants, and their food is a little different to yours, more Persian influences. Oh, and I was pulling your leg when I stated years back that the best thig to come out of India is its food. India is a great place, I would love to spend a lot more time there. And Indians too are great people in my opinion. Not too different to us British in some ways, good sense of humour, and you dont take religion too seriously and let it stop you enjoying life. :) GW: It tends to be a polarising issues, but, calling my posts rubish? Come on. OK, I like to attack it as heavially as possible but I always link to solid facts to back up my statements!

Yup, I spent 2 months in "Lundun", as the natives call it. Poor Indian curries mostly, but the rice was truly awful. I had to add 2-3 sachets of salt and pepper powder and sometimes even tabasco sauce before I could shove it down my throat.

No, you said that in the same thread, mere days back. Don't worry, no offence taken. I knock the British (esp DD) heavily myself but I love your country too (yes, I really do! Despite most Brits hating it themselves). I might be in London for a month in Sep, can't wait! I might try Indian food again, but there is so much more to try! Planning to try Ethiopian and perhaps Japanese vegetarian food this time. Any recommendations for good vegetarian food in Greater London, preferably non-Indian?

Cheers, विक्रम (Got my troika of CCCs!) Need sig - urgentz!!!

No idea. I havent lived in London for a long time, plus vegetarian food in the UK tends to be curry based.
