Although it may be a violent and oppressive religion (is it? who is the judge of that?) it never made any claim to be following "the truth[citation needed] of the bible" so it's only normal that it has nothing to do with it. If we were to use "has nothing to do with the bible" as a reason to demonize things, then how about science, Dan Brown books, computers, and the weather channel?

The reasonable person who you know and likely talk to regularly, and the person who believes in some extraneous detail of a passage in an ancient story and lives by it. Different amounts for different people of course, but sometimes it's striking to observe the differences. And the conflicts that start in some people rank up there with a good set of fireworks, both in amusement and desire to not have aimed at you. That said, I've yet to find someone without some stupid belief or another so I really have a hard time criticizing anything but their lack of originality.
