So all this could the result of a sod-you-guys-i'm-off-to-do-my-own-site kind of spat then? :-)

When CodeGuru was first sold they really went down hill. Trying to get advertizing for profit and not supporting what it had been and what CP is today. No spats as far as I am concerned, just it lost its spirit. "I will find a new sig someday."

Oh. So CodeGuru was originally something like here then? A non-comnmercial developers community? What was the story behind the sale. I only started going to CodeGuru shortly after that happened but I certainly got the feeling that quite a few people got bent out of shape by it!

I used to hang out first at CodeGuru. (started as MFC Programmers' Sourcebook) Slowly CodeGuru became fastest website in the tech community. But one fine morning Zafir Anjum sold (:~ ) website to EarthWeb, that too without informing anybody even some site admins like Chris Maunder. I know Chris Maunder and Kirk Stowell (CodeJock) were very much upset. I think within a week CodeProjects (something like that)born, later they changed to this CodeProject. So the question I got is Chris M works now for Dundas or works independently? Kant

Actually, there was a long time between CG being sold and its quality going downhill, and the launch of CP. IIRC it was on the order of months. Chris & Dundas started CP first as CodeTools, but that name was already trademarked, so they switched to CodeProject (which I think it a better name anyway :)). --Mike-- "alyson hannigan is so cute it's crazy" -- Googlism Just released - 1ClickPicGrabber - Grab & organize pictures from your favorite web pages, with 1 click! I was only in high school at the time, and slinging pizzas then after school, but I recall that the pizza I sold for $3.95 was $12.99 in BC. And it was lousy pizza. My fondest memory, though, was of the ladies there. I was a shy teen then, and they were all such incredible beauties compared to anything I'd ever met in the US. At my school we needed a permit from the AKC (American Kennel Club) to hold a homecoming dance. I spent the entire two weeks tongue-tied... I wanted so much to tell your lovely Canadian ladies how wonderfully beautiful I thought they were, but every time I tried my tongue got stiff and I couldn't say a word... I was under the impression that Dundas (and CodeJock) were sponsors of the site but didn't realise that it went any further than that. I had noticed that most of the ads were for Dundas and then some for CodeJock and BCG but just assumed that that was because these guys were the only ones who were paying for ads and/or sponsorship. Just curious...
