That's "percentage of Dutch youths who pirate music" vs "percentage of Dutch youths who buy music online" And why would you buy music online when you can legally pirate it? That's completely the same as not killing a hooker in a country where you still can! Actually no, it isn't. Because it's just something entirely different. Also, because not giving the artist the €0.0001 profit he would have made for selling you a €0.10 track string of bytes is not a big deal. all figures are approximate

Did they include the figure of those who actually buy the CDs? Some of us do that, not trusting any online media source to last, and some of us would rather just plain have a hard copy of it. Personally I'd even rather buy a pre-ripped copy on a chip of some kind than download it. If I lose that, it's my own fault.

Thanks. Did they cover anything along the lines of "Would you have been willing to pay for what you pirated, but you're a jackass who just takes it for free instead?".

Eh, I don't download pirated music (As to my college years, well...), but I can understand the complaints about the money all going to the RIAA companies instead of the musicians. So I only buy CDs from independent labels, or preferably from the bands themselves... That, and I go to concerts... Seeing Firewind and Powerglove next week :) Anyway though... Funny story, and true... I was playing Team Fortress 2 a night or two ago, and this guy joins up and starts asking us over voice chat how to pirate the game so it would stop kicking him out (When it realized he didn't have a valid license key)... He complains that after shelling out $70 for the collector's edition of Modern Warfare 2, he couldn't afford to buy TF2... Now, I have a certain level of sympathy for people who pirate computer games, because $60 for a movie tie-in or a bad sequel to a bad game is just idiotic... But sometimes it's just stupid. In this case, Team Fortress 2 retails for a whopping $10 for a boxed copy, or you can buy it along with Half-Life 2 and Portal for $20... Has to be the best deal in the entire gaming industry, MORE than worth it... So a bunch of the other players, myself included, proceeded to "educate" him on this... Not a single person tried to help him. My respect for my fellow gamers went up a notch that night :)

Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in?

Even I paid for TF2 :) (and I don't usually pirate music .. because I don't listen any) On CD even (Orange Box) - but I should probably add, the installer on the cd was rubbish. In the end I just downloaded it from Steam in less time than I spent cursing at the installer. But all that happened years ago I usually play on the No Heroes UK servers, in case you feel like killing me :)
