(No, don't worry, no more sick jokes...) I feel like a truck has hit me at the moment, just one day before I go on holiday for 6 days (woot, no Paul for 6 whole days! ;).) I have not been working any harder than usual nor have I reached my limits. Mid this year I was working far harder than this, yet I was quite fine. So I was wondering; does the body somehow know that it is going on holiday soon and therefore starts relaxing, winding down and generally become less enduring? I have noticed this feeling before other holiday periods as well. Quite amazing really, or am I just being odd again?

I've heard theories before describing cycles that our bodies go through; wish i knew more about it, and had some clue as to whether it was bullshit or now, but it sounds likely. I know from personal experience, when i can be sharp and alert the whole day after very little sleep, but then at other times feel like death for no reason at all. (though in your case, i'd put it down to good 'ol Murphy's Law - you're getting six days off, if you weren't sick you might actually enjoy them... ;)) Shog9 ------

I get the same thing. I tend to attribuite it to trying to tie everything up before leaving. While not putting in more hours, just more productive and stressfull ones. Cause I know (found out the hard way) that shit wont get done on projects I'm involved in untill I'm back. Fill me with your knowledge, your wisdom, your coffee.

In this case it is like my body is thinking "oooh, holiday coming up, shut down boys, put up yer legs, sit back and lets just relax!" I just wonder if mentally my attitude has changed which has resulted in certain chemicals being released or something. Which is pretty amazing if you ask me! Shog9 wrote: (though in your case, i'd put it down to good 'ol Murphy's Law - you're getting six days off, if you weren't sick you might actually enjoy them... ) LOL. When I said "hit by a truck" I meant more like feeling exhausted and just wanting to enter slumberland. Not as in I feel sick. Can't remember the last time I was sick (as in a cold or something, not as in from booze.)

For me it is the anticipation of the impending holiday I am sure. 4 weeks this morning we land in SA. Man, we can't wait!!! Usually the days and weeks fly by at work in a way which is almost unnatural, but all this seems to be slowing now to a snail crawl. Of course, the fact that my boss goes to SA next Saturday (and comes back 2 days before I go - redemption! :-D ) isn't helping at all! :((

Time before anything being anticipated slows down as we tend to think more about the time, be more concious of it, than when we are just sailing through. i.e. A watched pot never boils. But this is different IMO. I feel physically different, like some mental process of anticipation has released a RelaxorTM chemical into me. And too think I am just a simple male! Imagine having the body of a complex woman, must be a nightmare :)

Reminds me of Mr. Data complaining that he can't understand why time is relative for humans. This Thursday the time till we fly will be exactly the same as the time we will be spending in SA (ok, I'm not really that sad, just really looking forward to it. I haven't had a holiday since Easter, and have spent the year on a steep learning curve at a job I love). If only the time in SA would seem to go by as slowly as the time between now and leaving!
