I know that. The object of the game is to squeeze past all of his mental blocks and force him to take notice of that fact.

What's this? Captain GreenPeace? GMO is a product of the free market. Are you asking for big government intervention?

      CaptainSeeSharp wrote:

It also helps hide inflation as inflation shows the most in products like food, fuel, and necessities where demand remains relatively constant.

Yeah. Price inflation due to the increased demand from the developing nations. But your new EcoNazi persona will soon cure all that. Go! Go! Captain GreenPeace!

No need for big government manipulation to fight big government manipulation. It is simply a matter of property rights. Contamination of the planet's genetic code violates the property of anyone who owns just a single blade of grass.

No, inflation due to the increase of money supply. As far as food and fuel goes, as demand grows so does supply. Developing nations have nothing to due with your stupid ass leftists bullshit propaganda.

Ah, but they're doing it on their own property. Do you think the government should be allowed to determine what is and isn't a "contamination of the planet's genetic code"? Would you trust them with that kind of power? What if they decide your genetic code is "contaminated" and just forbid you from breeding? Wait, that wouldn't change much...

So no response then? Which is it to be? Property rights or government regulation? Are farmers free to do whatever they want on and to their own property, or aren't they?

Frankly I find it hard to believe any of these ideas and thoughts, these convictions of conspiracy and unkempt tyranny, accusations of intentional harm through genetic manipulation, simply put: the bullshit that comes out of your figurative mouth, are actually yours. As soon as you are confronted with a request to expound on your radical assertions (as Ian has so kindly done - I would 6 it if I could) you retreat to the safe-haven of derogatory nonsense more fitting of my perception of your intellectual capacity. If you cannot explain your thoughts, ideas and beliefs to someone without spewing utter trash like this, then you clearly don't understand them yourself. Do yourself a huge favour and think for yourself. Apparently we "leftists" are not the only "mindless automatons" around here. PS The only place I've ever seen the term "leftist" in the way you use it was in the Unabomber manifesto - I'm guessing you're one of his nut-bag, libertarian fans, right?

So Monsanto and Du Pont are government agencies? I thought they were companies exploiting a niche in the market. If farmers and consumers do not buy into GMO, the GMO companies will fail.

But not all countries grant property rights. Are you suggesting a Global Government whose law applies to all?

But 'contamination' of the genetic code is the basis of evolution. What is the difference between the random 'contamination' brought about by the environment and the planned 'contamination' of genetic engineering? Either can produce beneficial or harmful effects.

Spoken like Joe-Six-Pack, the guy with no contact with the real world. Switch on the flat screen, watch 'Dancing with the Stars', all your dreams will come true, all your needs will provided for, 'Don't worry, be happy', ... However, let me assure you that prices do go up where there is, effectively, a finite supply. That can, of course, encourage entrepreneurs to seek a new source of, or devise an acceptable substitute for, the product. You had better hope they do. And you had better hope these are developed in the USA, or you'll be paying an arm and a leg.

I'm still curious, where are these property rights enumerated in the constitution as you love to tout them? Because I know a lot of people who lost a LOT of money because of stupid shit done by someone they had never even heard of. If they have property rights so expansive as to cover possible cross pollination of plant species why can't they sue the fucker who cost them their retirement?

I know you like to point out the hypocritical behavior of our dear captain back here. He is but one of them. Just the other day I heard someone say how great it was that the DMV people were contractors and how they're printed else where now. Now because of that it takes a month to get a new drivers license when you used to get it right away while you were there. So now everyone gets to have a piece of fake looking cardboard as a replacement until then. Real secure. Those same people who champion that will then complain about the delay and crappy service. How ironic. Something that makes you go :wtf: :wtf:

For those in the US do you consider farm subsidies a bailout, kickback, payoff, or some other form of big government? Why or why not. I think it's ironic and hypocritical to talk of big government and not talk about farm subsidies.

Farm subsidies are a bad idea. They promote the growing of crops for which there is no demand. Farmers are also paid NOT to grow crops so that there is less supply, thereby driving UP prices. Stupid idea.
