Proof that InfoWars rots your brain

"Mr. Loughner had exhibited increasingly strange behavior in recent months, including ominous Internet postings — at least one showing a gun — and a series of videos in which he made disjointed statements on topics like the gold standard and mind control." (emphasis mine) This reminds me why I don't generally read/watch the news on weekends... Name aside, does the above quote remind you of anyone? A particular Alex Jones devotee that we all know and loathe? In case you've been avoiding the news even more carefully than I have, allow me to identify the source of this particular quote. It came from a nice little New York Times article[^] about the attempted(?) assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) a couple days ago. Ladies and gentlemen of the Back Room, this is what the InfoWars propaganda, left unchecked, can lead to. To any aspiring trolls who want to join CSS in his crusade of idiocy, I invite you to witness the destiny you may be about to choose. And CSS, I know you'll just respond with some mindless rant about how I'm a fascist-socialist, a liberal-conservative, or some other inane contradiction, but you might want to take a moment and look at the road you're traveling. Remember, friends don't let friends read InfoWars.

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)So I wake up to a whole lot of snow and read the good captain's ilk. He's too much of a coward is my first thought. As cold as the snow is he's a lot colder. People like him who con scribe to "news" like he does won't amount to much in life. He's got to change himself or not at all. It's a waste of energy trying to persuade him. I will say this about the infowars article. They certainly have a way of incorporating the products they advertise into it. The food bit was quite nice. All we have is mob mentality now, not democracy. Politicians just conjure magic to placate the masses. I noticed someone lumped climate change with birthers. That's interesting considering science is what climate change is supposed to be based on while birtherism is based on irrational racism. I will say this knee-jerk reactionary talk or actions is what people do best in situations they don't like. I forgot to mention that Sharon Angle during her failed senate race said that people will have to resort to "2nd Amendment remedies". Now I'm paraphrasing, but this certainly reminds me of that. Not a single Republican at that time came out against things like that.

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)Reading about some of his YouTube videos (Loughner's), I couldn't help but think about our own conspiracy theorist.

I don't know...he posted something at 2pm on the 8th, but nothing since. I just can't seem to find out what time the shooting happened... Strong possibility that they're one and the same...or maybe just close friends.

Nah, we know CSS's name... Doesn't match. And anyway, do you really think CSS actually has the guts to leave his basement and shoot someone? He talks big, and his mind is definitely warped enough, but I just can't picture him acting on it... And that's probably a good thing.

So much so that he considered it an act of terrorism, and shot a pro-abortion congresswoman?

and 'We the Living' by Ayn Rand, her "first statement against communism". Your usual standard of 'veracity'.

I'm still trying to figure out how you can list mien kampf, the communist manifesto and anything by Rand in your favorite books and not simply implode. Either that, or simply not understand the messages of any of them.

My difficulty is reconciling a love of both 'Alice' and 'Oz'. :)
