Movie: S1mone

Very impressed. I love movies that challenge things in a subtle way. I must admit though that I am still mulling over the movie. Sounds arrogant but I reckon 90% of people who see S1mone will think it is just a spur at prima-dona actors and their worth. On the surface definitley that is what it is. But I cannot help think that the movie actually attacks everything that is the movie industry. The actors, the directors, the producers, the money and very much us. You, me, your Britney Spears loving niece who thinks Spears is a great actress. The whole way the movie came back to bite Pacino in the arse was great. Was the ending a cop-out... another All American Ending To Keep Punters Happy? I don't think so. I think the ending left it open to those people who do still think to realise that it was an attack on everyone, not just actors. Like an evil grin which you can read a lot into, or just take as an evil grin. Or maybe I am just analysing things too much as per usual... still, a fresh, enjoyable and thoughtful movie. Al Pacino is great, I hope they perfect digitising before he dies ;)

But HP2 was sold out and Janina convince me to go watch S1mone. I was reluctant as I too felt like you; that I would be disapointed, that the concept was interesting but the execution would be typical Hollywood fluff. I was proven wrong thankfully. Go see it, it is not at all the fluff the posters and adverts hint at. As for that user comment... sounds like another bitter, twisted movie goer cum wannabe-critic who rates himself highly and hates the system because they never accepted him... bit like me in fact ;)

I haven't seen the movie and my "5 movies per year" budget is already spoken for when LOTR/2 comes out (and BJB DAD when I finally get round to seeing it), but... De Niro is another one, and the fact it has both of them in leading roles is the reason why Heat is still very very high on my favourite movies list. Well them and the best innercity gun fight scene ever. They are both just so watchable that I could happily watch Hollywood Big Brother when, god forbid, they ever decide to make it. Heck, Pacino and De Niro could model saucy lingerie and I'd buy it. :-O

De Niro is another one, and the fact it has both of them in leading roles is the reason why Heat is still very very high on my favourite movies list. I think what they were getting at was A) They needed something with a big label on it so people could see what it was and B) Plague version 8.1 is so old it only comes on floppy disks. I am pretty sure they intentionally used a floppy disk because look at the other kit they had, serious stuff.
