A slight flaw in your logic there, but I commend you for the effort.

Most Americans I know get pretty upset about this. You are either an American or some other nationality. Unless of course you have dual citizenship. In my opinion, it is part government, and part media who wishes to perpetuate the racial differences in this country rather than treat everyone on equal footing like they pretend to. Thank you! That is what I have always said! Exactly! I know a bunch of "African Americans" who would rather just be called black. I know a couple of "Native Americans" who would rather just be called indian. I think the politcally correct movement was just a bunch of media and government induced hype.

Because the sources I have about the US society are mainly based on the TV shows and series, a mediatic representation, I don't know if it's a reality. Could you please enlighten me ?

Prior to World War 1 it was heavily a collection of Ethnic groups. But in building the AEF many groups were forced to work togther and learn they were all fine men. Prior to that even military groups kept their local identity. They brought this cross acceptance back with them. We have been slowly making progress since then. For myself I am into genealogy. I am 87% germanic even though only one set of Great Grandparents immigrated in the 1840's and all other lines go pre revolution. Not much of a mixture. Today most do not notice. Since WW2 the importance of staying in your neighborhood has dramaticlly changed. People moving all over the country which did not happen prior to WW1. Even when moving out west (pre 1900) they did so in whole communities. "I will find a new sig someday."
