Hi guys, I'm looking for some feedback on a web service I recently joined as a team member. We're a platform for publishing and discovering source-code (mainly premium / commercial but also free). We recently opened a game development category and have some components published there already. What do you think about this concept? would you be interested in purchasing commercial packages if it could save you serious time & money or improve your performance? Would appreciate any feedback you guys have (good or bad). Thanks! http://www.binpress.com

First thing: you don't want to advertise here, its easy to be labeled a spammer and get booted off. If you're not a spammer, then don't do that. If you are, you'll probably be booted soon.

Only if it will really help... but considering all the free frameworks and development libraries, you'd have some stiff competition.

Given the abundance of useful free stuff on the net and the availability of commercial libraries sold directly or through companies that have been selling software components for nearly three decades (e.g. programmer's paradise), I doubt that your business model stands a chance. On top of that, people who want money for their software would be reluctant to sell their source code, out of fear of it acquiring a life of its own (for example, in the shape of a competing closed-source product).
