The Difference Between Conservatives and Liberals A Conservative and a Liberal were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person. The Conservative gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his business for a job. He then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person. The Liberal was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help. He walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. He then reached into the Conservative's pocket and got out twenty dollars. He kept 15 for administrative fees and gave the homeless person five. Now you understand the difference between Conservatives and Liberals. BW "If you enjoy what you do, you'll never work another day in your life." - Confucius

shouldn't it be "Democrat" instead of "Liberal"? Where did the Conservative get the $40? Why is the person homeless? Will the consevative shut down the welfare office? Questions, Questions...

I thought Mr. Con threatened to fire everybody who won't work twice for $40/week less. This ingenious restructuring allowed him to reduce his workforce and thereby gain another immediate $40/stock. Incidentally, at least one of the people that were restructured to the street got into disagreement with his bank and his wife, and ended up without permanent address ;) On a more serious note: Are the "Dems" really "Liberals"? Liberalism is - for my knowledge - the least regulaiton possible to still run the country. Not much of "Welfare" there ;)

peterchen wrote: Are the "Dems" really "Liberals"? Not necessarily. Nor are Republicans always Conservatives. Political groups tend to change philosophies over time - the Democrats were once very conservative. I've always been registered as a Republican, but I can't recall ever voting a straight party ticket, and I've frequently opposed legislation backed by the party. It's easy to point fingers at the parties rather than the individuals and the beliefs they represent, so much noise is made about Democrats doing this, and Republicans doing that. But in the real world, it is individuals that share a common philosophy that make things happen, for good or ill, regardless of which party they claim membership in. There's nothing impractical about their basic beliefs - an unregulated, free society is entirely workable, and far preferable to the two-class society the Liberals want to create. But what's the point of joining a party that has yet to garner 3% of the popular vote? Until the sheep realize they're being led to slaughter, the Libertarians will have to settle for being a fringe group.
