You'll always have a few people who will respond rudely. In most cases these people will not be anything like this in real life, but the relative feeling of distance offered in an online forum gets them responding with rude and borderline offensive remarks. It does not help that these insulting remarks get crowd support, often in the forum of supporting comments and up-votes. In your case, you used txt-speak which in general is considered to be in poor taste in any online technical forum worth spending time at. And when people pointed that to you, your reactions were rather unwarrantedly aggresive. The point is that it's not your grammar they are poking at, very few people here use good grammar anyway and that includes native speakers. It's your lack of effort in phrasing the questions. Like the other guy posted above, try participating in the GIT forum, which is specifically meant for newbie Indian CPians like you. I am a moderator there, and I and some others there can certainly help you with integrating into the CP community. I'll see you there!

        Regards, Nish

I can certainly remove the account if you wish - but don't judge us by the few without manners. Give it time then let me know how you want to proceed. We're not all bad.

I've taken a look at those 'nasty comments'. It concerns your use of text speak on a single question. If you use text speak on CP you will be told off. A lot of members, yourself included, are not native English speakers and so proper English is required on all forums. Respect the rules and we will respect you.

                    I'll try to explain this:

Some people are abrasive; no argument there. Looking at the question though, they were not rude.

That is not rue, that is direct. Please use English, if you don't then members will react negatively.

When you subsequently responded, using txt speak, THEN the tension started. You were warned and ignored it.

Probably. Though they Chris would see it differently.

I am not supporting anyone. I was trying to explain. The point of CP is for the experienced to share their knowledge. To do that we all have to play within the rules and that means using proper English. As for needing fresh meat, the site would fail if people stopped joining us.

I think that's caused by some cultural difference. What may seem rude to you could be considered not rude to others. There is no way other than experience to really know when somebody is being really rude. As to the text-speech, I think there is a one thing many here overlook. It might be possible that you know how to write the word in text-speech but not in full. If that's the case just ask in the General Indian[^] forum how to write it, I'm sure they'll help you there. Another option is to find another way to explain yourself (usually that means more typing tho), I regularly have the problem that I don't know how a word is written in English so I just describe it in a bit longer way. So don't let a few set-backs keep you from this site. It really is a very valuable resource for a programmer, especially for a learning programmer.
