You are the intrepid one, always willing to leap into the fray! A serious character flaw, I might add, but entertaining. Said by Roger Wright about me.

Yesterday (Jan 1) I took the kids to the tallest mountain on the Island to see the snow. Since it's summer having useable snow isn't too common. After I had a bit of a play with them, I sneaked of to see some guys I knew their. They were creating a NEXDAS (New eXtreme Dangerous Alpine Sport) For various reasons they allowed me to become a victemolunteer. All I can say is it was a hell of an experience, that left me bashed and mangled to the max. To cut a long story short, the Doctor could not believe I didn't have any broken bones, and due to my blood pressure drop, guesses I must have lost at least a litre of blood. Also I had to have applied over 140 square inches of burns dressings for snow burn. Ouch. :-(( Regardz Colin J Davies

Kannan Kalyanaraman wrote: I didnt quite understand about NEXDAS At the moment nobody is sure what they should name the activity or sport, since it is so new. The guys I went with have spent a lot of time and money trying to develop the devices used for it, and are applying to get patents etc. It's a bit difficult to explain, but the basic components are a finned snow board, a half-moon kite with 3 strings and a versatile aerofoil. When you put stuff like this together on the side of a icey mountain with ugly rocks things start getting dangerous. The kite basically pulls you along on the snow board, if the window is big enough you can actually ski into the wind and tack like a yacht across the slopes. The aerofoil is attached to the snowboard and user to keep it down so you won't fly off into the sky. However you can flick the aerofoil when you jump so that it gives you lift like an aeroplane wing. Hope that explains it :-) Kannan Kalyanaraman wrote: never seen snow in my life You should take a trip to the Himalayas sometime. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

Oh...I guess its some form of Xtreme Sports,I have seen things similar to that in espn, very dangerous, you must have lots of guts to try something like that :-) Colin Davies wrote: You should take a trip to the Himalayas sometime Here more people go there for a pilgrimage rather than for a adventurous trip. But if I'm not careful I won't return. Anyhow my late News Year Resolution is to never try that activity again, I'll try something safer like Base Jumping. :-). If NEXDAS takes off as a sport, I'm sure the carnage it causes will make it banned in most places. Regardz Colin J Davies

Did you watch the latest James Bond movie? Wasn't it great when he emerged surfing from that tidal wave with a parachute in his hands? I got a great kick out of that. :-) And what you described reminded me of that scene. Anyway, I hope you recover soon. Regards, Alvaro

Sounds like great fun! Next time please do get a video you can share with us.:-D I've never heard of a snowburn, though. What is it - a friction injury? I hope you feel better quickly...:) "How many times do I have to flush before you go away?" - Megan Forbes, on Management (12/5/2002)

Yes I can't say it appeals to my tastes either, but if you've ever watched Eurotrash or Men & Motors you'll know it is apparently quite a popular passtime... :omg:
