Back and snowy!

Well, I am back in the land of high speed internet connections - and am finding it looks quite beautiful when covered in a blanket of white. So much for the landlord's assurances that it never snows around here. On the subject of snow - it turns out you actually have to grow up around the stuff to know how to build a decent snowman - between 3 South Africans we have managed to construct a short triangular monstrosity in the communal garden. Now the neighbours know for sure we are crazy :-D I was delighted to find on landing this morning that despite being sad about leaving home, I am happy to be back in the UK for another year or so - providing I take a trip to the bush at least once every 11 months! Anyway - a belated happy new year to everyone! :)
I knew it would end badly when I first met Chris in a Canberra alleyway and he said 'try some-it won't hurt you'... -Christian Graus on Code Project outages His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a tumble dryer. It hurt the way your tongue hurts after you accidentally staple it to he wall**-Shaun Wilde**

Now the neighbours know for sure we are crazy LOL, my first snowman with some friends was quite good actually, it even had a partner. My boss is contemplating fitting chains to his scooters tyres, he says it is no fun driving on snow on a wobbly scooter in the freezing cold :-D

Welcome back Megan :) Don't worry, snowmen are boring anyway - the whole point of snow is throwing snowballs at unsuspecting neighbors, or leaving them stuck above their doorways. Don't forget, a bit of water makes them much harder and therefore more effective. ;)

Welcome back! It's been snowing here in Rhode Island as well. And Happy New Year! I took the first real vacation (not doing any work that generates income) in many years and ended up posting something like four articles on CP in one week! I got to PLAY. And yes, I paid lots of attention to my family too! Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

Shog9 wrote: a bit of water makes them much harder and therefore more effective Alas - this information comes to late! :-O In true fashion of kids who grew up in swimming pools we were too impatient to roll nice neat little balls and opted rather for spraying the snow recklessly towards each other using hands, kicking it with our feet, etc. More entertainment for the locals... :-D

My aim was to post another article - but we had no time. In fact, this holiday was anything but restful (we slept in one day only), but it was fantastic nonetheless :)

It must've been a bit of a shock going from the middle of a SA summer to the middle of a UK winter! Hope you packed warm clothes so you didn't freeze to death on the journey home :) Got any of your photos shared up yet? -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

Welcome back Megan, and Happy New Year to you too! I was off work waiting for the cable guys to turn up on Wednesday, so it was rather pleasant not to have to drive to work through it. The local kids were having a full-blown snowball fight in the afternoon... Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk
